Demi Moore warns Hollywood: resisting AI is a ‘losing battle’

American actress and producer, Demi Moore, recently weighed in on the growing conversation about the use of AI in Hollywood.

The 63-year-old appeared at the 2026 Cannes Film Festival in France for the event’s opening day press conference as a member of the festival’s jury this year, when she was asked for her opinion on the implementation of AI in the entertainment industry.

“AI is here, and so to fight it is to, in a sense, to fight something that is a battle that we will lose,” Moore said. So to find ways in which we can work with it, I think, is a more valuable path to take.”

She was further asked if people are doing enough to protect human artistry, Moore said she does not think people are doing enough.

“To your question of are we doing enough to protect ourselves? I don’t know. I don’t know. I don’t have the answer to that, and so my inclination would be to say probably not,” she said.

AI has become a permanent feature of the industry, according to Moore, who suggests the most constructive strategy is to determine how to find ways to work around it while protecting the film business as well.

“Against-ness breeds against-ness. AI is here. So to fight it is to fight a battle that we will lose. So to find ways that we can work with it is a valuable path that we can take,” she said.

“The Substance” actress further shared that even though AI might seem to be taking over, the one thing it can never do is take art that every actor or anyone in the entertainment industry has.

“There’s beautiful aspects of being able to utilize it, but the truth is, there really isn’t anything to fear, because what it can never replace is what true art comes from, which is not the physical.

“It comes from the soul. It comes from the spirit of each and every one of us sitting here, to each and every one of us that creates every day, and that they can never recreate through something that’s technical,” Moore added.

That is in fact true because what draws us to movies or songs is mainly the ability to connect with the artist, which is something that AI cannot do.

AI fails to relay the emotions, you can definitely tell. For example, many of the AI songs. They sound catchy but something is missing in them, which is the emotions that only a human embodies.
