Hollywood is at a standstill after SAG-AFTRA voted yesterday to officially go on strike. With the actor’s guild now joining the WGA on the picket line, production of movies and films has ceased.
One of the first major productions to be impacted by the SAG-AFTRA strike is Deadpool 3, which has now been shut down.
News of the production suspension comes days after audiences got a first look at Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman suited up as Deadpool and Wolverine respectively.
A Highly Anticipated Return
Deadpool 3 will see Reynolds reunited with his Free Guy director Shawn Levy. The film will also be the first entry in the franchise to be released by The Walt Disney Company.
While a third entry in the Deadpool franchise was enough to get fans excited, anticipation has been building. The film will not only see Reynolds reprise his role as Deadpool, but also Hugh Jackman make his entry into the franchise, reprising his role as Wolverine.
While Jackman’s Wolverine met his end in 2019’s Logan, Deadpool 3 will be set at an earlier point in the timeline.
In addition to Jackman, Disney has also announced that Jennifer Garner will reprise her role as Elektra. Garner originated the role in 2003’s Daredevil before getting her own spinoff film.
When Will ‘Deadpool 3’ Be Released
While Deadpool 3 was originally slated for a May 3, 2024 release, that date may now be in jeopardy.
