Deadpool 3 will be the first official entry of the Merc With the Mouth in the MCU, but so far the focus of the film has centered on Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine.
Although Jackman publically stated that he was retiring his iconic character after the release of 2017’s Logan saw the former X-Man sacrifice himself, he has been roped into joining Deadpool by franchise star Ryan Reynolds.

While Jackman is no stranger to the world of Marvel, Deadpool 3 marks the actor’s first entrance into the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).
For Jackman’s big return to the role, Deadpool 3 director Shawn Levy decided it was time to break out Wolverine’s iconic yellow suit.

“Like the rest of the world, I’ve waited two decades to see Wolverine in a whole movie with Deadpool, and I don’t know if this is our last shot at Wolverine on screen, so I was going to make goddamned sure we get the old yellow and blue just once, and that we get it right,” Levy told EW.
Wolverine’s Classic Look
Wolverine rose to the height of his popularity in the 1990s, buoyed in no small part by his appearance in X-Men: The Animated Series.

In a sneak peek of Jackman’s upcoming appearance, Wolverine’s suit is bright and yellow in a clear callback to the classic cartoon.
In his interview, Levy revealed that the team behind the suit went through multiple iterations, noting, “It also helps that I’m making this movie within the MCU, so I have access to an army of the nerdiest nerds available to a Marvel project.”
When Will ‘Deadpool 3’ Be Released
While anticipation for Deadpool 3 has been through the roof since the announcement of Jackman’s return, Marvel fans will have to wait to see Wolverine in all his yellow and blue glory.
While the film is still slated for a May 3, 2024, production on the film was shut down in July.
With no end to the ongoing Hollywood strikes, the release of Deadpool 3 could be delayed.
