Daredevil’s Deborah Ann Woll Uses Perfect Ghostbusters Metaphor To Describe Potentially Working on a DC Movie

Fans of Netflix’s Daredevil series have been a little disappointed that Deborah Ann Woll will seemingly not be reprising her role as Karen Page in the new MCU series Daredevil: Born Again, especially with the likes of Jon Bernthal returning as The Punisher and others such as Vincent D’Onofrio continuing his role as Kingpin. So if Woll isn’t appearing as her Marvel character again, then surely the next logical step is for her to defect to DC Studios instead right?

The actress was asked the very question about whether she would consider becoming part of James Gunn’s DCU in the future during a recent appearance at ICCC Nashville (via The Direct), where other stars such as D’Onofrio also appeared. While her response was in line with many others who have been asked similar questions, Woll was able to sneak in a Ghostbusters reference that very much sums up the feeling about which side of the comic book coin many get to land on. She said:

“I don’t know-do they let us do that? Am I allowed to cross the streams. I feel like that would be very dangerous. Yeah, there’s a few people who can do it, but I don’t know if I’m one of those lucky few. I don’t know about DC. You know, this was so cool to be a part of Daredevil, and I think it was such a unique little corner of the MCU that felt really special. I’m really happy with what I’ve had, and there is no plans for me so far on either side of the comic book universe, but I’m so grateful for the experience that I had.”

How Much Rivalry Is There Between Marvel and DC?

The Direct

For many people, Marvel and DC are locked in an eternal civil war of the comic book world, constantly fighting for supremacy in a battle that has gone on for decades. In reality, that is far from the truth according to new DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn, who recently debunked the whole idea that the two comic giants’ movie studios are constantly locked in competition with each other. He said:

“People have this weird belief that Marvel and DC hate each other or somehow are polar opposites. But it’s just not the truth.I mean, listen, man, our job is the same. We want to get people into the theaters to see movies. That’s what matters. And I think that we work together to do that. And the more good Marvel movies are, the better it is for DC movies. The more good DC movies, the better it is for Marvel movies. There’s not only one winner. There can be two winners because it matters who goes to see your movies and who enjoys ’em.”

However, when it comes to fans, there are plenty who still chalk up every victory their favorite producer of comic book superhero movies gains over the other, and will no doubt continue to do so when Gunn’s new DCU begins to roll out in 2025. Whether Deborah Ann Woll will be part of any of those movies, is something that she, and we, can only wait and see.
