Daniel Radcliffe is making a stunning transformation into Weird Al Yankovic for the parody performer’s semi-biographical movie “Weird: The Al Yankovic Story.” It’s a not-so-accurate look at Al Yankovic’s rise to fame and a refreshing counterpoint to the deluge of serious music biopics over the past few years.
The trailer for the flick dropped on Monday and shows Radcliffe’s Yankovic getting steamy with Madonna, portrayed by Evan Rachel Wood, and scenes of his parents fretting over his musical proclivities.
“All I wanted was to make up new words to a song that already exists,” Radcliffe earnestly tells his friends.
“Weird” was announced in January and is based off a fake trailer released by Funny-Or-Die several years ago. The biopic was written by Eric Appel and Yankovic himself.
The film, which is set to premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival next month, also stars Quinta Brunson, Rainn Wilson, Toby Huss and Julianne Nicholson. The film will be available to watch for free on the Roku Channel on Nov. 4.
