CW Orders True Crime Series ‘Crime Nation’

CW Orders True Crime Series ‘Crime Nation’

The CW has ordered ten episodes of “Crime Nation,” an anthology series focused on true-crime and justice. Set to debut in early 2024, “Crime Nation” will delve into real-life mysteries, cold cases and investigations.

Each two-hour episode will include new details and exclusive interviews from ripped-from-the-headlines stories, including the Delphi murders, the Lori Vallow Daybell case, the Gabby Petito murder and the Gilgo Beach murders.

“As the first true crime series in the history of The CW, ‘Crime Nation’ will provide a fresh new spin on the genre, giving viewers a deeper look into a variety of thrilling and compelling cases,” The CW’s head of unscripted programming Heather Olander said in a statement. “The social media conversation around true crime is bigger than ever, and the ‘Crime Nation’ team will explore the relationship between the public narrative and official investigations for each case.”

In addition to incorporating exclusive reporting and expert analysis, “Crime Nation” will also interview crime enthusiasts, social media sleuths, podcasters and digital detectives. With social media changing the true-crime landscape, some of these people have used their network to help solve cases in certain instances.

The series is executive produced by head of Candle True Stories and former ABC News President James Goldston, Steven Baker and Mike Sheridan. Candle True Stories is the newest division of Candle Media, a production company dedicated to telling non-fiction stories through a cinematic lens.

“Crime Nation” will join other unscripted shows on The CW’s roster like “FBoy Island,” “Penn & Teller: Fool Us,” “Criss Angel’s Magic with the Stars,” and “Mysteries Decoded.”
