Cunk on Earth is the latest British comedy gem to land on stateside Netflix. It’s a mockumentary starring comedian Diane Morgan as “Philomena Cunk,” a serious history doc host with serious case of utter stupidity. Cunk on Earth follows its clueless host as she interviews experts, stands in fields, and loiters in museums, opining on the major events that made humanity what we are today. Beyond just being a blisteringly good satire of the British documentary genre, Cunk on Earth features what might be the best idiot savant comic character since the version of Stephen Colbert who hosted The Colbert Report. By asking smart people dumb questions, Cunk on Earth serves up some seriously genius comedy.
