While Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 was touted as the last adventure for the motley crew of space adventurers, reports of the franchise’s end may be overstated.
After all, the last thing that audiences saw after watching the third Guardians film was a title screen reading, “The Legendary Star-Lord will return.”

Although fellow Guardians actors Zoe Saldana and Dave Bautista have publicly stated that they are finished with the MCU, Chris Pratt has been more open to a return. So, what could Star-Lord’s next appearance look like?
James Gunn Teases A Future Star-Lord Film
In the director’s commentary for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, director James Gunn discussed the possibility of Marvel adapting the ‘Legendary Star-Lord’ comic story.
That run saw Star-Lord attempting to live on Earth and adapt to the environment that he grew up in.
In the commentary, Gunn noted that Pratt and the now head of DC’s Cinematic Universe had long talked about the possibility of adapting the arc.
“Oh, but not quite over. We always want to give somebody a little something special. And Chris and I, forever, have talked about how great it would be to be able to do a ‘Legendary Star-Lord’ movie, a story with Star-Lord on Earth trying to adapt to the environment of Earth in the same way that somebody else might try to adapt to the alien environment of outer space. He’s a fish out of water in just kind of regular water. So I can’t wait to see it.”

While it is unclear how serious Marvel is about creating a Star-Lord solo movie, audiences did get a glimpse of the former Guardians’ leader attempting to adapt to life on earth in a Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 post-credits scene.

If Marvel does choose to continue Star-Lord’s story, they will do so with the involvement of Gunn. The Guardians of the Galaxy director has his hands full launch the DC universe.
