City Primeval Teaser Reveals New Look at Timothy Olyphant’s Return

Timothy Olyphant is back to reprise his role as everyone’s favorite gun-slinging lawman in the latest teaser for FX’s Justified: City Primeval. Released courtesy of FX Networks, Justified: City Primeval is all set to debut later this month on FX and will stream on Hulu. You can check out the latest look at Olyphant’s return as Deputy U.S. Marshal Raylan Givens below.

Justified: City Primeval will bring Raylan Givens back for more all these years later, and finds the no-nonsense gun-slinger doing the rounds as he finds himself back in Miami before heading off to Detroit. There, Givens comes across crazed killer The Oklahoma Wildman. Fans of Justified are eagerly awaiting the return of Timothy Olyphant’s Deputy, and will be pleased to hear that the actor is up for more should Justified: City Primeval prove to be a success. “I’d show up,” Olyphant said recently. “I had a good time. Every time we’ve done this I’ve had a good time.”

This latest look at the revival comes following the first teaser for Justified: City Primeval, which reminds us all that, when it comes to Timothy Olyphant’s Deputy U.S. Marshal Raylan Givens, you don’t mess with the hat. This first footage from the Justified revival series finds Olyphant back in said hat and once again dispensing justice as he makes the move from Kentucky to Miami. Check out the teaser trailer for Justified: City Primeval below.

First premiering on FX back in 2010 before concluding in 2015, the original Justified run stars Timothy Olyphant as Raylan Givens, a tough deputy U.S. Marshal who enforces his own, Old-West style type of justice while patrolling the streets of Miami. Thanks to his lawman style, Raylans is transferred back to Kentucky, which includes Harlan County, the place where Raylan was born and raised and which he thought he had escaped for good. Met with critical acclaim throughout, Olyphant’s long-awaited return is sure to be a triumphant one.

“Having left the hollers of Kentucky 15 years ago, Raylan Givens now lives in Miami, a walking anachronism balancing his life as a U.S. Marshal and part-time father of a 15-year-old girl. His hair is grayer, his hat is dirtier, and the road in front of him is suddenly a lot shorter than the road behind,” the official synopsis for Justified: City Primeval reads. “A chance encounter on a desolate Florida highway sends him to Detroit. There he crosses paths with Clement Mansell, aka The Oklahoma Wildman, a violent, sociopathic desperado who’s already slipped through the fingers of Detroit’s finest once and aims to do so again. Mansell’s lawyer, formidable Motor City native Carolyn Wilder, has every intention of representing her client, even as she finds herself caught in between cop and criminal, with her own game afoot as well. These three characters set out on a collision course in classic Elmore Leonard fashion, to see who makes it out of the City Primeval alive.”

Justified: City Primeval Is Now Due to Debut on July 18

FX

Along with the first footage from the revival series, it has also now been revealed that Justified: City Primeval will debut on July 18. Based on the novel City Primeval: High Noon in Detroit, Justified: City Primeval stars Timothy Olyphant as Raylan Givens alongside Aunjanue Ellis, Adelaide Clemens, Vondie Curtis Hall, Marin Ireland, Norbert Leo Butz, Victor Williams, Ravi Patel, and Vivian Olyphant starring as Willa Givens, Raylan’s daughter with Boyd Holbrook as Clement Mansel, aka The Oklahoma Wildman.

Returning producer and showrunner Dave Andron has revealed how Justified: City Primeval will differ from its predecessor saying, “It’s very, very new. Not quite the old Justified. Only people who read the book might have an idea, but I think people who haven’t, who just expect the old thing, are going to be very surprised.” Fellow showrunner and director Michael Dinner meanwhile has called the comeback “a grown-up version” of what came before.

Justified: City Primeval is now scheduled to debut on July 18 on FX and will stream on Hulu.
