Charity Lawson’s brother is offering his thoughts about social media comments addressing the former Bachelorette lead’s performance during this week’s Dancing With the Stars season 32 finale.
Dr. Nehemiah Lawson, who appeared during his sister’s season of ABC‘s The Bachelorette that aired earlier this year, took to Instagram as the dance competition’s pivotal episode was airing Tuesday evening. He took issue with apparent comments posted about Charity’s moves, although he did not include the specific remarks.
“The haters are back in the comments and I’m LIVING,” he wrote on his Instagram Stories. “Could not be more proud of you Char Char. Best freestyle EVER!!!!!”
Later on Tuesday, he offered more support for Charity, who finished this season in fourth place. “Watching my sister get unwarranted hate from a sector of the DWTS fan base has been one of the weirdest, most out of body experiences I’ve had the displeasure of witnessing,” Nehemiah posted. “The way she has dealt with this negativity, risen to every occasion, and has excelled paints her in a brand new light for me. She is literally Wonder Woman. Captain Marvel. Super girl. I’m so proud of you. I love you @charitylawson and I got you. ALWAYS.”
On Wednesday, Charity reposted his message about the “unwarranted hate” to her own account. But she also appeared to have positive feelings about the experience, posting on the same day that she “can’t wait” to participate in the show’s 2024 live tour.
The Hollywood Reporter has reached out to ABC for comment.
During the DWTS finale, the former Bachelorette — who is engaged to Dotun Olubeko after meeting him on the dating show — and dance partner Artem Chigvintsev earned a score of 29 out of 30 for her tango and a perfect 30 for her freestyle.
Xochitl Gomez and dance pro Val Chmerkovskiy won the coveted Mirrorball trophy as the season 32 champions. Jason Mraz and partner Daniella Karagach finished as the runners-up, with Ariana Madix and dance pro Pasha Pashkov in third place.
