‘Chanshi’ Team On Henry Winkler Agreeing To Co-Star On Israeli Sitcom – Deadline

The Deadline Studio at Sundance Film Festival runs January 20-23 at Hotel Park City, where the cast and creatives behind the best and buzziest titles in this year’s lineup sit down with Deadline’s festival team to discuss their movies and the paths they took to get to Park City.

Chanshi

Section: Indie Episodic Program

Directors: Mickey Triest, Aaron Geva

Logline: Chanshi is from a Jewish-Orthodox Brooklyn family. She uses the story of a friend’s wedding in Israel as a cover to escape her conservative bubble and fiancé. Free to fulfill her forbidden fantasy of sleeping with Israeli soldiers, her trip triggers a past trauma threatening to ruin her adventures.

Panelists: Aleeza Chanowitz (series creator, actor), Marnina Schon (actor), Mickey Triest (director), Aaron Geva (director)

Next Screening: January 24, 5:50 p.m MST, Prospector Square Theatre, Park City

Key Quote: Aleeza Chanowitz, Aaron Geva and Marnina Schon on Henry Winkler agreeing to play Aleeza’s father on the show: “He liked the project and he liked the opportunity to come to Israel. He had never been there before. And I guess he had some free time.” – Aleeza Chanowitz

“He came right after Barry, which is like an HBO show, to this Israeli set. He always said that he was scared that the minute he will step off the plane a war will burst in Israel.” – Aaron Geva

“But you know he keeps saying that he wants to come back for season 2. He wants there to be a second season and he wants to come back.” – Marnina Schon
