BROOKLYN 45
Section: Midnighters
Director: Ted Geoghegan
Screenwriter: Ted Geoghegan
Logline: Friday, December 27, 1945. Five military veterans gather in the ornate parlour of a Brooklyn brownstone. Best friends since childhood, they’ve reunited to support their troubled host – but when his invitation for cocktails turns into an impromptu séance, the metaphoric ghosts of their past become all-too-literal. Trapped in their host’s lounge, the Greatest Generation now finds themselves put to one final test… with their only route to freedom being more bloodshed.
Sales Agent: The Exchange, Nat McCormick

Premiered: March 12, 2023
Key Quote: Geoghegan: “I started putting it together thanks to the assistance of my late father, Michael, who was a Vietnam veteran in the Air Force and he was a quadriplegic. He helped me form the script almost from day one… Even though he didn’t offer anything ‘creatively,’ he offered so much technical information… all this really wonderful know-how about his time in the military.”
“The question the film asks is – Are we the sum of everything we do over the course of our life, or should we be defined by just one thing that we do? All of the characters have troubled backgrounds, but also good backgrounds, and over the course of this evening they all do very good things and they all do very bad things. And when the film is over, it’s really a gray area of whether these characters are good or bad… and there is no right or wrong answers.”
The Deadline Studio at SXSW runs March 10-13, where the cast and creatives behind the best and buzziest titles in this year’s lineup sit down with Deadline’s festival team to discuss their movies and the paths they took to get to Austin, Texas.
