Brie Bella sent to hospital with wrestling-induced injury… after preparing for her ‘last’ SummerSlam

Brie Bella was taken to the hospital after sustaining a shoulder injury during her match on the first night of WWE SummerSlam 2026.

On Saturday, the 42-year-old professional wrestler teamed up with her twin sister, Nikki Bella, and Paige for a six-person tag team match against Fatal Influence.

The Bella twins ended up losing the match and later turned on Paige in the ring.

During the six-person tag team match and afterwards, Brie was spotted holding her right shoulder.

This comes one year after her twin sister Nikki revealed she suffered a rare and horrific breast implant injury during a past match.

On the first of the two-night event, WWE Chief Content Officer Paul ‘Triple H’ Levesque confirmed Brie was ‘taken to the hospital’ for further evaluation.

The Daily Mail has reached out to Brie’s reps for comment.

‘Yeah, no, she’s injured,’ he said during a press conference after her match. ‘I don’t have an update yet.’

He continued: ‘She was here, got some treatment here [and] has been taken to the hospital to get some scans done.’

Levesque added that he does not ‘have a clean answer’ yet about Brie’s injury and recovery.

‘I know [she] hurt her shoulder,’ he continued. ‘Seems pretty bad, but I don’t have that answer yet.

‘Hopefully, we will soon and hopefully it won’t be as bad as we thought it was, but that’s the nature of the game,’ he said.

The day before the match, Brie said she wanted to be more present and ‘have fun’ in case it is her ‘last run.’

‘This run has been unlike any run we’ve both have ever done,’ she said about training for SummerSlam in an Us Weekly interview published on Friday.

‘I feel so comfortable, and … when you’re so comfortable, and I’m looking at this as, “I’m not gonna lie to myself. I’m not in denial. This is my last run.”‘

She continued: ‘It’s, like, you’re gonna go out there and you’re gonna have fun. I’m gonna make sure I take more moments having fun with the audience and looking at them because I don’t know if it’s the last time I’ll be wrestling in the city.’

She also said she was anticipating a ‘tough match’ against Fatal Influence — the WWE professional wrestling stable featuring members Jacy Jayne, Fallon Henley and Lainey Reid.

And Nikki chimed in to say she ‘saw young Bellas’ in the trio.

Brie added: ‘These women are driven, they’re strong, they’re capable of so many things.

‘Then, you put their personalities on top. It’s why they’re moving fast and they’re making names for themselves, and it’s going to be a tough match at SummerSlam because we are looking at our younger selves,’ she continued.

‘We’re seeing these girls, and they’re not going to give up and they’re going to make a name. We love it,’ Brie said.

‘Coming back for a night, I was like, “Oh yeah, I feel like I’m back in our era of personality, strength, the fight, the grit,’ Nikki said. ‘They’re incredible.’
