“Everyone in the towns nearby knew about this house, and during the ’90s, people loved to tell stories of going to visit the place to test their courage.
But my favorite story comes from my older brother. He had just gotten his own car and wanted to go visit the ‘Old Spanish Trail Nursery.’ So, he drove toward the property and had his cassette player going. After he crossed the tracks, his cassette player suddenly started to go haywire and make glitchy noises. Then, he started to have car trouble; it stopped and wouldn’t start properly. So, he’s trying to start the car, the tape player is going haywire, and just as he is trying to get out of there, he said he heard someone call out his own name. Then, he heard someone very close by, practically whisper his name. Suddenly, his car finally started, and he peeled out of there. His tape player continued to go haywire until a few miles down the highway, and then, finally, it started working properly again.
He said that he never had a similar problem with that particular cassette tape or his tape player again. Just another reason I continued to fear the ‘Old Spanish Trail Nursery’ every time we drove by when I was a kid.”
