The popular Singapore Comic Con (SGCC) is back with an array of internationally renowned creators and characters.

BBC Studios’ hit family animation “Bluey” is returning to the SGCC main stage and this time she will be joined by her sister Bingo in a new, refreshed “Bluey Live Experience,” which debuted last year. There will be screenings of the “Veranda Santa” and “Dance Mode” episodes, followed by a parent-and-child Bluey dance off competition. Claire Renton, animation director for “Bluey” at Ludo Studio, will also be hosting a lecture at SGCC’s W.I.P (work in progress) Lab for aspiring animators. She will share practical tips on how to get into the animation industry, how to build a portfolio and what it’s like to work on a show. Renton also shares her personal experience working on developing the script and subsequently leading the animation for an episode, the ethos of the show and what makes it so special, as well as spotlighting those areas of production audiences don’t get a chance to see.

The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles will be present at SGCC on a recycling mission, to save Singapore from techno trash, by asking punters to donate their used tech devices at the Nickelodeon Singtel booth.

The world of Indonesian comics will be explored via IP developed by Bumilangit, Beyondtopia and Kisai Entertainment. In addition, comic publishers, Asiapac Books, Difference Engine, Epigram Books and CS Comics reveal the unseen challenges and rewards of pursuing comics in Singapore, shed light on how far the island nation’s comics industry has come, and explore the promising horizons for Singaporean comics. Singapore’s Gan Meng Yeow (Sacred Guardians), Darth Ryan Mennen (CS Comics), Aydeel Djoeharie (Sacred Guardians) and Nik Chan (ComXnaut) share their experiences of creating homegrown superheroes, as well as their vision for the future of the genre.

Ben Abernathy, veteran comic book professional and current executive editor at DC Comics speaks with Leslie Lee on the challenges and opportunities facing the comic book industry today. Abernathy and artists Artgerm, Derrick Chew, Alan Quah and Kael Ngu discuss what goes into making some of the most iconic covers in comics today.

A major addition this year is the SGCC new talent showcase. Featured Singaporean talents include Samara Gan, Kang Jing, Wayne Ree, Benjamin Chee, Elvin Ching and Edison Neo.

TikTok’s role as a force in shaping the contemporary landscape of entertainment will be explored in one of the event’s Creators on Stage segments and another session will educate on how to leverage the platform for cosplay.

From Aniplus Asia, there will be a premiere screening of anime series “The Dangers in My Heart.”

SGCC takes place Dec. 9, 10 at Singapore’s Sands Expo and Convention Centre.
