The Californian desert music two-weekend music festival, Coachella, is returning for its 2023 installment. The K-Pop girl group, Blackpink, Puerto Rican rapper Bad Bunny, and rapper Frank Ocean will be headlining the multi-act events this year.
This will be the first time in Coachella’s twenty-two-year history that minority artists will kick off the festivities. It will begin Friday, April 14th, with Bad Bunny, followed by Blackpink on Saturday, the 15th, then Frank Ocean Sunday, the 16th. Then, the headlining order will repeat the following weekend, April 21st, through the 23rd. All take place in Coachella Valley, located in Indio, California.
International artists, including Charli XCX from the UK, Bjork from Iceland, Burna Boy from Nigeria, The Kid Lorai from Australia, and Rosalia from Spain, are set in the performance lineup. Veteran rockers Gorillaz, Blondie, and Idris Elba will also take the stage.
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Coachella had to cancel its 2020 and 2021 events and made its return in 2022. This year, the organization hopes the festival will be stress-free, as last year’s hit a bump with Kanye West dropping out within days of the first weekend. The Weeknd and Swedish House Mafia were substituted in Kanye’s place.
The passes presale will launch online on Coachella’s website this Friday, January 13th, at 11 am pacific time. Beware, though, as passes are extremely limited for Weekend One, and your best bet for acquiring a pass is to attend Weekend Two. As for price, they begin at $499, with the highest at over $1,000.00.
And let’s not forget the festival fashion. Fringes, beads, crochet, and moto boots will surely be on the top display. Other guaranteed Coachella activities will be camping on-site, general stores planted throughout the area, and food booths for a fill-up.
