Bill Hader & Duffy Boudreau Team Up for New Comedy at HBO

Bill Hader is returning to HBO with a brand new comedy series! The emmy winning actor, writer and director is teaming up with his friend Emmy Nominated writer Duffy Boudreau to develop a comedy pilot for HBO.

According to the official synopsis, the untitled project centers around a woman in a small town whose big secret comes to light. Hader and Boudreau will both serve as co-writers and executive producers.

The duo’s collaboration goes back years to their friendship in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The two first teamed up for episodes of Fred Armisen, Bill Hader and Seth Meyer’s 2015 “Documentary Now”. They then reunited teaming up for the hit HBO series “Barry” which premiered in 2018 which Hader co-created and starred in, with Boudreau contributing as a writer and becoming co-executive producer.

Hader, fresh off “Barry,” which concluded in 2023 after four seasons, received 16 Emmy nominations for his work on the series, including two wins for best actor in a comedy in 2018 and 2019. Hader also received Emmy nominations for outstanding direction in a comedy series. Beyond “Barry,” Hader is widely known for his time on “Saturday Night Live” and roles in films such as “IT: Chapter Two,” “The Skeleton Twins,” “Inside Out,” and “Trainwreck.”

Boudreau’s writing credits extend to animated shows like Netflix’s “Big Mouth” and Hulu’s “Hit-Monkey.” He was nominated for an Emmy for comedy writing alongside Hader and “Barry” co-creator Alec Berg for the Season 3 episode “710N.”

If Barry is any indication of what we’re in for, then we are in for a hilarious series with a hint of thrill. With these two at the helm, they can’t disappoint.
