Beyoncé Dropped A Family Photo And Fans Are Losing It

Queen Bey’s most vigilant and detective-minded fans suspected an upcoming album drop when she mysteriously removed her profile pictures from her social media accounts or, according to Rolling Stone, when there was a sudden URL change to her B7 website.

Beyoncé announced the new album very casually on her social media on Thursday 16 June, the same day her British Vogue cover was published. The artist’s social media bios now read: “Act i, RENAISSANCE, 7.29.” She also fed her Hive by posting several images from the Vogue shoot, all at once, to her Instagram. The homepage for her website remains vague, with just the name of the new album. There are links to pre-save the album on Apple Music or Spotify, should you so choose, or to preorder a box set of merch.

The album’s creation was a long process, Bey told Vogue, explaining that the pandemic gave her more time to “think and rethink.” The British Vogue profile describes the new music as hitting like a “wall of sound” with “soaring vocals and fierce beats.” It is, reportedly, music that makes you want to get up and dance, like “Break My Soul,” the first single released Beyoncé dropped on 21 June.

On July 20, the singer shared another sneak preview of the album: The track list. As expected, “Break My Soul” is the sixth track on the album, which also features songs like “I’m That Girl,” “Cozy,” and “Alien Superstar.” Because this is Beyoncé, there are some provocatively titled songs as well, including “America Has a Problem” and “Church Girl.”

Bring it on.
