Settle down, fartknockers: The first trailer for Beavis and Butt-head Do the Universe is here. This time the low-jinks take our heroes to the Final Frontier — because, as the ever-wise(ass) Beavis notes, “The Earth sucks.” Have a look above.
Uh, hey baby, it’s been more than a quarter-century since the teen toon twits hit big screens in Beavis and Butt-head Do America, and Paramount+ said today that its original pic will launch June 23 on the streamer, marking the duo’s first onscreen appearance in more than a decade.
There are the usual giggled-at references to sex, an interstellar hurl-fest and an appearance from the Great Cornholio as series creator and Do the Universe writer-director Mike Judge returns to voice the prickly pair. He is joined by a cast that includes Chris Diamantopoulos, Nat Faxon, Brian Huskey, Chi McBride, Tig Notaro, Stephen Root, Andrea Savage, Martin Starr and Jimmy O. Yang.
While we wait for the new season of the old series that introduced the characters during the 1990s, here is the film’s logline (heh-heh, heh — we said “log”): Technically spanning two centuries, the saga begins when Beavis and Butt-Head wind up at space camp through “creative sentencing” from a juvenile court judge in 1998. Mistaking a docking simulator for something else, they excel at it and are asked to join the Space Shuttle mission in a PR move. After ruining said mission, they are left for dead in space and end up going through a black hole and reemerging back on Earth in 2022, only to discover a very different world: They find themselves considered Buttholes of Interest by the NSA, the governor of Texas and a highly intelligent version of themselves from a parallel universe. And they almost lose their virginity; key word “almost.”
Judge also executive produced Beavis and Butt-head Do the Universe along with Lew Morton, Michael Rotenberg, Chris Prynoski, Shannon Prynoski, Ben Kalina, and Antonio Canobbio.
