With Avengers: Doomsday set to hit theaters in less than three months, Marvel Studios returned to the box office this weekend with Avengers: Endgame Encore.
The re-release of Marvel’s 2019 blockbuster not only brings Earth’s Mightiest Heroes back to theaters, but it is also four minutes longer than the original.
In total, the film includes four new scenes that tie it into the events of Avengers: Doomsday.
A Successful Return
With the hype surrounding Avengers: Doomsday reaching a fever pitch, fans turned out in droves this weekend to relive Avengers: Endgame.

The film grossed $26 million domestically and $60 million overseas for a global total of $86 million.
As of this writing, Endgame has grossed $2.88 billion.

If the re-release can gross another $39 million, the film will surpass Avatar ($2.9 billion) to become the highest-grossing film of all time.
Infinity Vision Debuts
In addition to letting fans catch up on Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, the re-release of Endgame has allowed Disney to introduce its new Infinity Vision format.

Unlike IMAX, the new certification does not indicate new technology. Instead, it demarcates that theaters have “met rigorous technical standards.”

As Doomsday will not be shown in IMAX theaters, Disney is offering Infinity Vision as an alternative premium format.
A Banner Year For Marvel
Between the historic release of Spider-Man: Brand New Day and the upcoming arrival of Avengers: Doomsday, 2026 is shaping up to be a historic year for Marvel.
