EXCLUSIVE: Kaleidoscope Film Distribution has acquired world sales rights to Assassin’s Guild, the latest pic from Stuart Brennan, the director and producer of Kingslayer and Warchief.
The film is complete and will be available for review at the forthcoming AFM. Synopsis reads: In the aftermath of the brutal Mermaid Wars, the fractured, yet once-great city of Iliad is under siege by dark forces. Distracted by the notorious Goblin Hunter – a lethal killer with a vendetta on her hands – the Guardians tasked with holding the peace turn a blind eye to the scheming, underground city guilds with terrifying results, as the undead start to rise. With the city full of ill will and corruption rife, Death himself is forced to forge a partnership and take matters into his own hands, offering Atticus, an elite fighter killed in the final assault on the sea, a chance to return to the land of the living. But this gift does not come without a cost.
The film stars Stuart Brennan (Plan Z, The Necromancer, Stalker), Rosanna Miles (Warchief, Doctors), Ryan Gage (The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies, Kingslayer, Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story), Mark Paul Wake (Wolf, The Necromancer, Plan Z), David Hayman (The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas, Macbeth), and newcomers Laura Masters and Cellan Scott.
Shot in the UK in the spring of 2023, Assassin’s Guild is produced by Brennan and Gareth Wiley (Match Point, Vicky Cristina Barcelona, Scoop). Kaleidoscope Film Distribution is representing all rights and Kaleidoscope Home Entertainment is slated to release in the UK in early 2024, pending global rights deals. The deal was inked by KFD CEO Spencer Pollard and Stuart Brennan of Stronghold Studios.
“We are very excited to be bringing Assassin’s Guild to buyers later this year,” Pollard said. “Stuart and Gareth have an excellent track record in delivering smart, action-packed features and this solidifies our already excellent working relationship with them both which we look forward to extending in the near future.”
Brennan added: “With each movie, we have been growing our team at Stronghold Digital to bring additional scale to these movies with epic crowd scenes and powerful VFX. The Stronghold Workshop team has outdone themselves with the SFX, bringing the undead to life and plenty of violent battles. It’s a thrilling project and Kaleidoscope is the perfect partner to bring this to the market, after the successful collaboration on our previous titles.”
