Perhaps the most controversial film of Wes Craven’s impressive 43-year career, Last House on the Left was prime material for a modern-day remake when the cinematic trend was at its peak. Released in 2009 The Last House on the Left brought in a respectable $45 million on a $15 million budget. Praised as one of the better remakes of the era, Last House was watched over closely by Craven, his son Jonathan and original producer Sean S. Cunningham. However, despite its success, the film has been lacking somewhat in the home media department, with rather ho-hum releases and sparse features… But that’s all about to change.
On Friday May 26th Arrow Video revealed their stunning August release slate and the Last House remake is the title that’s got all the fans talking. The set will include the film in 4K UHD as well as standard blu-ray, and features the “Unrated” cut of the remake upgraded to Blu-ray quality for the first time.
Acting as a wonderful companion piece to Arrows impeccable release of the 1972 original, the set features newly commissioned artwork and a booklet detailing the remake’s journey to the big screen. Much like Arrow’s treatment of the original, the set is also loaded with brand-new extra features that are any physical media collector’s paradise.
