Now, it appears that after spending some time there, the Joker may only be leaving behind the movie’s version of Arkham Asylum after burning it to the ground.
Harley Quinn & The Joker Are Likely Behind Arkham Asylum’s Fire
The announcement that Lady Gaga would be joining Joker: Folie à Deux‘s cast made waves, especially with her character being the movie’s answer to Harley Quinn. Official details about her role are yet to be revealed, although a recent rumor claimed the movie will be taking a different route with the character. In the DC mythos, Harley meets Joker first in a doctor-patient relationship at Arkham, but if the Joker: Folie à Deux rumor is to be believed, then both characters will be patients at Arkham State Hospital.
It is inevitable that Phoenix’s Arthur Fleck will escape from Arkham in Joker: Folie à Deux, and he will likely enlist the help of his romantic partner Harley Quinn. Joker: Folie à Deux is going to be a musical. The movie has been compared to La La Land, a film that used its musical scenes to delve deeper into its lead characters’ dreams and psyche. Joker‘s Arkham Asylum burning down would allow Joker and Harley Quinn to both physically escape, and would be a great set piece in the musical theme to represent the characters breaking free of their mental bounds. After all, fire is known to purify all wounds, and burning down Arkham Asylum in Joker: Folie à Deux might be the catharsis Arthur needs to fully become the Clown Prince of Crime.
