Warner Bros. Discovery will be showcasing their upcoming movie slate at Cinemacon this week, and that includes Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, the long-awaited sequel to the 2018 film that will see the return of Jason Momoa as Arthur Curry.
It has not yet been confirmed if a first teaser trailer for the film will be released during the presentation, something that has already been confirmed for other productions such as The Flash. However, fans remain hopeful that they will get their first look at the sequel to the King of the Seven Seas story this next week, as it is still a long way from its December release.
While the expectation of being able to see a teaser for Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom is out there, Twitter user @Alfiemoviehub shared a look at the official poster that has already been displayed in the place where the convention will take place:
The poster doesn’t reveal much about the plot, which has in fact been kept under wraps so far, but it’s icy appearance does tie into some concept art director James Wan previously shared featuring a huge monster trapped within the ice. Reportedly, the story will see Curry forging an unlikely alliance, most likely with Patrick Wilson’s Orm, in order to save Atlantis and the whole planet from a dangerous threat.
Another important detail is the return of Yahya Abdul-Mateen’s Black Manta, who was introduced in the first movie and had his own fight against the titular hero, but it’ll be in this film that he will actually become the main villain.
Amber Heard is also set to return as Mera, even with so many rumors about her being cut off the film. Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom could also include a Ben Affleck cameo as Batman, since the actor was on set as Momoa showed on his social media.
The Last Days of the DCEU Will be One of the Big Stars at Cinemacon
As most fans already know, The Flash will be screened for CinemaCon attendees, besides releasing a new full trailer. Expectations are off the charts for Andy Muschietti’s film, especially since rumors describing it as one of the most incredible superhero movies of all time have been around for a while now.
Besides Ezra Miller solo adventure as Barry Allen and the Aquaman sequel, the other character that will definitely show up at DC’s presentation is Jaime Reyes. Xolo Mariduena will debut as the titular hero in Blue Beetle, which will hit theaters in August. The Angel Manuel Soto film released its first trailer earlier this month, so fans are definitely hoping to get to see more of the upcoming project this week too.
As for James Gunn’s vision of the DCU, which will start in 2024, there’s been no confirmation of any of those movies in development showing anything at CinemaCon, but there might be some announcement related to it during the event to surprise the fans. Warner Bros. Discovery will make their presentation at CinemaCon on Tuesday April 25.
