Anthony Mackie Weighs In On Jonathan Majors’ Legal Troubles

Ever since Jonathan Majors was arrested on domestic abuse charges last March, Marvel has been noticeably silent on the actor’s legal woes.

While other entities including the United States Army, MLB’s Texas Rangers, and even Majors’ management and PR team have distanced themselves from the embattled actor, Marvel has been biding their time.

Majors Declares His Innocence

As Majors prepares to head to trial, his defense team has insisted that not only is the Loki star innocent, but he himself has been the victim of abuse.

“Jonathan Majors is innocent and has not abused anyone. We have provided irrefutable evidence to the District Attorney that the charges are false. We are confident that he will be fully exonerated.” His lawyers said in a statement.

For Marvel, a break with Majors would likely affect a plethora of projects. As Kang, Majors is expected to appear as the franchise’s main villain over the next few years, culminating with Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars.

Anthony Mackie Weighs In

While Marvel will likely wait for Majors’ legal issues to play out in a court of law before commenting, Captain America: Brave New World star Anthony Mackie has become the first MCU star to weigh in. Mackie, who is set to assume the mantle of Captain America, was quick to point out that everyone is innocent until proven guilty.

“We’re a country that was built on ‘everyone is innocent until proven guilty.’ That’s one of the staples of this country,” he said.

“Nothing has been proven about this dude. Nothing. So everyone is innocent until proven guilty. That’s all I can say. It’s crazy where we are as a society. But as a country, everyone is innocent until proven guilty.”

Majors is set to return to court in New York on August 3rd.
