While the plot of Captain America: Brave New World has been kept under wraps, Marvel has confirmed that Harrison Ford will be assuming the role of Thunderbolt Ross from the late William Hurt.
Ross’ return to the MCU, combined with a behind-the-scenes photo showing Harrison Ford in tattered pants, has led many to speculate that we will see the MCU debut of Red Hulk in the upcoming film.

The History of Red Hulk
For those who don’t know, in the comics, Thunderbolt Ross transforms himself into the Red Hulk into order to battle Bruce Banner/The Hulk.

Other originally appearing as a villain and antagonist for the Hulk, Red Hulk eventually became something of an anti-hero and even joined the Avengers at one point.
Ford and Mackie Respond
Ever since the release of the photo of Harrison Ford wearing tattered pants, fans have pestered both Ford and fellow Brave New World star Anthony Mackie about the possible inclusion of Red Hulk in the film.
For his part, Ford has remained ambiguous, simply stating that the photo “may or may not be” a clue that Red Hulk will appear.

Mackie however, insists that the shredded pants were not some kind of cryptic hint, but instead the result of a lost luggage incident.
“See, Harrison [Ford] and I go way back. A lot of people don’t know this… This is our second time working together. He came down to Atlanta, they lost his luggage, so I gave him a pair of pants, but those are my work pants from working in the yard. Harrison, he’s a curmudgeon, so he goes, ‘Anthony, just give me the damned pants.’ And I was like, ‘Alright.’ So that’s all that was. He just needed some pants.”

Whether or not Mackie is telling the truth, it seems as if fans will have to wait to find out whether or not Red Hulk is coming to the MCU. Perhaps the first Brave New World trailer will shed light on the situation, but until then speculation will run rampant.
