Anitta has topped Billboard’s new music Latin poll published on July 24 with her new album, Equilibrivm II.
Billboard readers voted for the Brazilian pop star’s new set as their favorite music release of the week after the New Music Latin poll and playlist were published.
Equilibrivm II, a two-part album with 32 songs, generated more than 71% of the vote, beating out other releases including Ryan Castro’s “Que Te Vaya Bien,” Natanael Cano and Gabito Ballesteros’ “Pa La Maña,” and Lunay and Omar Courtz’s “Mi BB,” to name a few.
On her new album, which follows the 15-track Equilibrivm released this April, Anitta embraces her culture and identity while also opening up about her faith, ancestry and cleansed soul. Mainly in Portuguese with some songs in English and Spanish, the set is powered by the soundscape of Brazil, from forró to funk to bossa nova to samba, and includes collabs with key acts from the MPB (Brazilian Popular Music) scene.
“I poured my whole self into this album. Anyone who listens will realize that,” she said in a press statement. “These songs reflect so much of my spirituality, my worldview, the Brazilian elements that captivate me, and even touches on my own life story. Every choice — musical or visual — was made with intention. I am very proud of what we are delivering.”
Other fan favorites in this week’s New Music Latin poll — following Anitta’s winning set — are EMJAY’s “Moreno Fantasy” and Jessi Uribe’s “¿Qué Pasó Ayer?” See the full poll results below.
Editor’s Note: The weekly New Music Latin poll results are posted if the poll generates more than 1,000 votes.
