Emmy Award-winning studio Amplify Pictures has appointed veteran documentary producer Lauren Haber as Head of Documentary, it was announced today by Rachel Eggebeen, Amplify Pictures’ Chief Content Officer. Haber will be based in New York and will report to Eggebeen, who is based in Amsterdam and oversees Amplify Pictures’ scripted and unscripted content slate, which includes the eight-time Emmy nominated HBO docuseries, “100 Foot Wave.”
Before joining Amplify Pictures, Haber served as VP of Production at Impact Partners where she curated and supported their slate of independent documentary projects including “32 Sounds” directed by Sam Green, “Another Body” directed by Sophie Compton and Reuben Hamlyn, Peabody-winner “Aftershock,” directed by Paula Eiselt & Tonya Lewis Lee, “Paper & Glue” directed by JR, and the 3-part HBO series, “Nu clear Family,” directed by Ry Russo-Young. Prior to Impact Partners, Haber produced for documentary filmmakers Shaul Schwarz and Christina Clusiau, collaborating on the feature documentaries “Narco Cultura,” the Independent Spirit Award and Peabody-winning series, “Immigration Nation” for Netflix, and “Trophy,” for which she took home the Emmy Award for Outstanding Nature Documentary. Before diving into documentaries, Haber ran production and development at Parts & Labor, overseeing early films by directors Robert Eggers, David Lowery, Andrea Arnold, and more.
In her new role, Haber will be responsible for overseeing Amplify Pictures’ current slate of documentary projects as well as expanding Amplify Pictures’ documentary portfolio with globally commercial, filmmaker-driven projects with an emphasis on ongoing series and IP creation. The hiring comes at a dynamic time for the company as it continues to strengthen its team and its diverse slate of global content following an infusion of capital through a private equity investment.
“I was immediately struck by the ambition, integrity and collaborative spirit that Joe, Rachel and Colin radiate and bring into everything they do at Amplify Pictures,” said Haber. “The company’s fresh perspective and focus on innovation in the documentary space is absolutely thrilling for me to step into. I’m honored and excited to build Amplify Pictures’ global documentary slate, working with visionary filmmakers to tell stories that surprise and entertain, under a supportive, creator-driven business model.”
“Lauren is a one-of-a-kind producer and executive who thinks big and exemplifies the qualities – smart, funny, innovative – that make Amplify Pictures the home for top filmmakers and creators. She will be a phenomenal leader for Amplify Pictures as we expand our documentary slate, and we are thrilled to have her bring her sharp sensibilities to our growing team,” added Eggebeen.
