‘America’s Got Talent’ Spinoff ‘Fantasy League’ Ordered at NBC

NBC has ordered a new spinoff of the popular talent competition series, “America’s Got Talent” titled “AGT: Fantasy League,” the network announced on Thursday. The show is scheduled for a 2024 arrival.

Similar to a fantasy sports draft, the judges will each choose a roster of their favorite acts on “Fantasy League” picking from the winners, finalists, viral sensations and fan favorites from “America’s Got Talent” and “Got Talent” franchises around the world pre-selected by viewers. For the first time in franchise history, each judge will compete alongside the contestants and will mentor and guide the acts throughout the competition in the hopes that their team will earn the title of champion. The Golden Buzzer will be back sending acts straight to the finals, but with a twist, as each judge can use their coveted Golden Buzzer for their own act or to steal an act from another judges’ team.

Mel B will return to the “AGT” judges’ desk alongside executive producer Simon Cowell, Heidi Klum and Howie Mandel. Terry Crews is also set to return as host.

Fans will be able to vote via the America’s Got Talent app for their preferred contestants on Sept. 27 following the “AGT” finale. 40 acts will be chosen to join the “AGT” draft pool as the judges carefully make their selections and fill their fantasy teams with 10 acts compiled from singers, dancers, ventriloquists, comedians, aerialists, magicians, etc. Viewers will be able to vote each week for which acts will advance to the finals as the show airs.

In addition to Cowell, the spinoff is executive produced by Sam Donnelly and Jason Raff. Fremantle and Syco Entertainment co-produce the series. Other spinoffs within the franchise include “AGT: All-Stars” and “AGT: The Champions.”
