Alex Russo’s Best Episodes, Ranked

Wizards of Waverly Place was a fantasy series that aired on Disney Channel. It premiered in 2007 and concluded in 2012, being one of creator Todd J. Greenwald’s biggest hits.

The story revolves around Alex Russo, played by Selena Gomez, who’s a teenager, living in New York. She and her two brothers are on a mission to train their magical abilities in order to compete in a distant day between them to see who gets to keep the family’s powers. Thus, Alex must balance her magical life with her personal and social issues, making it seem to everyone that she’s a normal teenager.

For her part, her character was the protagonist, so the vast majority of the story dealt with her. However, there were some episodes that stood out more than others, which you will see below.

10 Wizards vs. Vampires on Waverly Place (Season 2, Episode 26)

Disney Channel

Much of the focus of this episode was on Justin meeting and falling in love with Juliet. Despite the rivalry between Justin’s family and Juliet’s family and the fact that Juliet is a vampire, the two teens fall in love. However, much of the episode’s relevance was played by Alex, who aided in his brother’s conquest, first by giving him extra time on Juliet’s break and then by handing him the magic glasses.

Alex takes Justin’s side when their parents find out, and thanks to her, her brother manages to get permission to date the vampire. On the other hand, Alex had to deal with Max, who she was fed up with because of his celebrity impersonations. In the end, she manages to get him to go to an underwater summer camp, proving that she’s capable of getting away from annoying people and that she’s always willing to help her own.

Thus, an argument develops between Alex and her mother. Then, her grandmother ends up revealing that Alex’s mother wanted to have a quinceañera when she turned fifteen, but couldn’t because the family had no money at the time. Alex talks to her mother to change her body for a day so that the latter can celebrate her party. In the end, Theresa manages to enjoy the event, and Jerry, Alex’s father, thanks her for the details.

At first, the competition seems to go relatively well, but then they’re disqualified for a mistake they made in one round. This causes the guard to take away their gifts, making them mortal. Thus, they spend several weeks trying to live like a normal family and tending to the family business, although it’s later revealed that this was part of the test, which was passed.

In the final round, Justin wins by emerging from a maze, becoming the Family Wizard. However, he declines the position, as he confesses that Alex helped him when he got stuck in a tree root, and she went back to help him. Alex takes the position. This is an excellent ending for the protagonist, achieving what she so longed for, although in the end, she wanted to sacrifice it for a selfless action.
