“Agatha All Along” has emerged as Marvel Studios’ standout hit this year, captivating audiences with its blend of mystery and dark humor within the Marvel Cinematic Universe even retaining the largest percentage of viewers week to week. The episode ended up delivering a plot twist that connects directly to one of the MCU‘s most beloved characters.
Warnng, this episode contains spoilers for Agatha All Along Season 1 Episode 5:
The episode centers on Agatha’s trial on the Witches’ Road, where she faces the consequences of her past actions. During a tense confrontation, Agatha drains the life force from fellow witch Alice. This leads to a significant moment involving Teen who shows his anger towards Agatha for showcasing her relentless pursuit of power, when he refuses to take lives, Agatha utters the words “You’re so much like you’re mother”. Locke’s identity has been shrouded in mystery throughout the show, shielded by a sigil that obscured his true name and backstory. Fans have had many speculations, and some even had the exact correct theories. At one point we were even made to beleive that he was Agatha’s son. In a shocking reveal at the end of the episode, Teen demonstrates that he himself has magical abilities and we see him demonstrate chaotic blue magic, using it to manipulate Lilia and Jen into burying Agatha in the mud at the side of the Witches’ Road. Afterward, he turned the same power on them. We then see, a blue crown formed on his head, similar to the red crown worn by the Scarlet Witch, hinting at his true lineage as Wiccan, the son of Wanda Maximoff.
Wiccan, or Billy Kaplan, is the reincarnation of Wanda’s son, Billy Maximoff. This connection not only aligns with the comics—where Wiccan pursues his real mother and develops his magical powers—but also explains the blue magic Teen has displayed, mirroring Wiccan’s powers in the source material. This revelation not only confirms longstanding fan theories but also suggests that Wanda may still be alive. When we last encountered Wanda Maximoff in “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness”, her quest to find alternate versions of her children, Tommy and Billy whom she had created in “WandaVision” took her down a dark path. Ultimately, in a bid for redemption, she scarificed herself to eliminate the Darkhold once and for all. While Elizabeth Olsen has expressed hope about returning to the role, the future of the character remains uncertain.
Although Marvel has hinted at her demise, with this reveal in “Agatha All Along” episode 5, fans are left wondering if we might see Wanda again before the season concludes, reigniting hope for her return within the MCU. With this exciting new revelation, the possibilities are endless, especially with the upcoming Young Avengers project where Wiccan is expected to feature. Fans are eager to see how this new dynamic unfolds in Agatha All Along and beyond, as this show has continued to surprise viewers with its entertaining and exciting nature.
