Netflix has recently announced it’s turning Fiona Rosenbloom’s comedic, coming-of-age novel, “You Are So Not Invited to My Bat Mitzvah” into a young adult comedy film. Notoriously famous actor Adam Sandler, who proudly gets behind his jewish heritage) is joining in the production. Joining Sandler will be a sprawling ensemble, which also includes Sunny Sandler (Hustle), Sadie Sandler (Hubie Halloween), Luis Guzmán (Boogie Nights), Ido Mosseri (Sandy Wexler), Samantha Lorraine (The Walking Dead: World Beyond), Dylan Hoffman (Next), Dean Scott Vazquez (Theater Camp), Miya Cech (Always Be My Maybe), Ivory Baker, Dylan Dash (Adeline, The Great), Millie Thorpe (Ultra Violet & Black Scorpion), Zaara Kuttemperoor and Jackie Sandler (The Wrong Missy).

You Are SO Not Invited is the latest project to stem from Netflix’s partnership with Sandler and his Happy Madison, which was extended via a four-picture deal in 2020. Sandler’s company inked its original deal with Netflix in 2014 and has thus far produced such films for the company as Sandy WexlerMurder Mystery, The Do-OverThe Week OfHubie HalloweenThe Ridiculous Six and the recently released Hustle, along with the comedy special 100% Fresh.

The novel published in 2005, follows Stacey Friedman’s preparations for her Bat Mitzvah, however as the story progresses, her plans unravel in comedic and absurd ways, which threatens to ruin this important event in her life.  It was followed up by a sequel in 2007 titled “We Are SO Crashing Your Bar Mitzvah!”.

Sammi Cohen, known for her Hulu original film Crush will serve as director. Along side Cohen will be screenwriter Alison Peck, who worked on the Netflix original film Work It.  In addition to acting in the film, Sandler is also producing through his company, Happy Madison Productions.

No comment from Netflix on when fans can expect to see this on screen, but production is set to begin a few months.
