Across The Spider-Verse’ Trailer Introduces Spider-Man 2099 – Deadline

UPDATED, 8:14 A.M.: “Being Spider-Man is a sacrifice,” Miguel O’ Hara/Spider-Man 2099 (Oscar Isaac) tells our hero Miles Morales (Shameik Moore) in the new trailer for Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse released by Sony on Tuesday. “You have a choice between saving one person and saving every world.”

As is his nature, of course, a stubborn Morales aka Spider-Man insists that he can do both. “Everyone keeps telling me how how my story is supposed to go,” says Moore’s version of Spidey. “Nah, I’mma do my own thing.”

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is the first of two Sony sequels to its dazzlingly innovative 2018 film Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, which won the Oscar for Best Animated Feature and grossed $384M+ globally. While the original saw Morales traversing the Multiverse with Gwen Stacey aka Spider-Woman (Hailee Steinfeld) in an effort to take down the villain Kingpin (Liev Schreiber) and save his universe, the new film will have them join with a new team of Spider-People to fend off a threat more powerful than any they’ve ever encountered.

The latest trailer for the sequel bowing in theaters on June 2nd can be found above. Read more about the project below.

PREVIOUSLY, DECEMBER 13: Sony has unveiled the first trailer for Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse — the sequel to its hit animated feature Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, which grossed over $384M worldwide and won the 2019 Academy Award for Best Animated Feature.

The original film helmed by Bob Persichetti, Peter Ramsey and Rodney Rothman watched as the teenage Miles Morales (Shameik Moore) became the Spider-Man of his universe, then joining with five spider-powered individuals from other dimensions to stop a threat to all realities. The new one will be another epic adventure transporting Brooklyn’s full-time, friendly neighborhood web-slinger across the Multiverse. He’ll again join forces with Gwen Stacy (Hailee Steinfeld), while working with a new team of Spider-People, to face off with a villain more powerful than anything they have ever encountered.

Across the Spider-Verse‘s cast also includes Oscar Isaac, Brian Tyree Henry, Luna Lauren Velez, Daniel Kaluuya, Jason Schwartzman, Greta Lee, Issa Rae, Rachel Dratch, Jorma Taccone and Shea Whigham.

Justin K. Thompson, Joaquim Dos Santos, and Kemp Powers are directing from a script by the original’s writer-producer Phil Lord and producer Christopher Miller, as well as David Callaham. Avi Arad, Amy Pascal, Lord, Miller and Christina Steinberg are producing, with Ramsey, Persichetti and Rothman returning to exec produce alongside Aditya Sood, Rebecca Karch and Brian Bendis.

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse will debut in theaters on June 2, 2023. Also slated for release by Sony is the threequel Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse, which bows in theaters on March 29, 2024.
