Details on a new game based on AMC’s The Walking Dead TV series have seemingly leaked.
According to a new report by dataminer billbil-kun, who has an excellent track record of product leaks, The Walking Dead: Destinies will see players step into the shoes of former deputy sheriff Rick Grimes, who wakes up from a coma following the onset of a worldwide zombie apocalypse.
Featuring over 15 characters from the show as well as familiar locations, the third-person action adventure game is said to cover the events of the first four seasons. However, players won’t have to stick to the script of the show, as they’ll reportedly be able to build their own team and choose who to save or kill as the story unfolds.
Update
The first trailer for The Walking Dead: Destinies has been released and is viewable below.
“Assemble allies and fight your way through the walker apocalypse across iconic locations from The Walking Dead, including Atlanta, the Greene family farm, the prison, and Woodbury,” reads the description accompanying the trailer. “In crucial choice-driven moments, you’ll forever shape the destiny of your team of characters from the series. Heroes and villains, living and dead – it’s up to you to decide whether to stay the course of history or forge your own path through the world of AMC’s The Walking Dead.”
Weapons available to players will reportedly include revolvers, shotguns and katanas, and there’ll be some strategy gameplay elements including resource harvesting and base management.
It’s claimed that The Walking Dead: Destinies will be published by GameMill Entertainment for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC. It’s expected to be released on November 14, 2023, and to be priced at $49.99 / €49.99 on all platforms.
A ‘The Walking Dead: Destinies’ trademark was filed earlier this year by franchise co-creator Robert Kirkman.
