Russell Crowe Goes Liam Neeson in First Trailer for Action Thriller ‘The Get Out’

While there had been some before him, it was Liam Neeson who truly redefined the aged action hero trend with his 2008 oft-quoted thriller, Taken. Now, it’s time for another Hollywood icon to join the fray, as 62-year-old Academy Award winner Russell Crowe unleashes his particular set of skills in the first trailer for the upcoming action thriller, The Get Out.

Aged 62, Crowe is a mite older than Neeson was the first time he had to save a family member from nefarious forces (for context, he was 55 when Taken was released), but, as expected, the Gladiator star is no less captivating as he dons an Albanian accent to play Marco Kapak, a surprisingly friendly, somewhat goofy club runner who, after a brush with death, decides to leave everything behind. Of course, things don’t go as planned, with Crowe forced to shoot his way out of trouble.

As the footage shows, after being robbed by a pair of masked thieves (played by Breaking Bad’s Aaron Paul and The Vampire DiariesNina Dobrev), Marco is forced into a violent game of cat and mouse while cartel threats and a mysterious buyer (Beauty and the Beast’s Luke Evans) turn his escape plan into a deadly trap. The Get Out (also known as Bear Country) gives Russell Crowe the chance to both chew some scenery and deliver the kind of intensity that he’s now well-known for. In both real-life and on screen.

The A Beautiful Mind star gets the chance to go full Liam Neeson in The Get Out, though, unlike the Taken star, his tongue is wedged firmly in his cheek, with the line “I’m not the kind of man you rob” telling us everything we need to know about this latest addition to the aged action hero genre.

Russell Crowe in The Exorcism Vertical

The Get Out reunites Crowe with director Derrick Borte, with the pair having delivered the twisted psychological action thriller Unhinged back in 2020. Despite some mixed reviews, Crowe certainly lived up to that title, and The Get Out looks to be another magnetic turn from the popular actor. And it’s a performance we’ll get to bask in when The Get Out hits theaters on June 26, 2026.

The Get Out is far from the only action-packed adventure in the pipeline for Russell Crowe. The Oscar winner recently entered the MMA fray in the well-received Beast, and he will resurrect the skills of Maximus and do battle with the Roman Empire all over again in the upcoming historical epic The Last Druid before embarking in espionage in the spy thriller Billion Dollar Spy. Finally, Crowe is due to reunite with his Man of Steel co-star Henry Cavill in John Wick director Chad Stahelski’s long-awaited Highlander reboot.
