This year, Authentic Drive-In Theatres will be holding there second annual Authentic Drive-Ins Horrofest, which will take place all over the country. The horror festivities started on September 15 and is scheduled to last through October. Depending on where you live, you can catch a wide variety of scary movies, ranging from more family friendly work to things that are for mature audiences only. The event is set to celebrate the 90th Anniversary of Drive-Ins as well as showing off a wide variety of classic horror flicks.

The anniversary of several classic horror films will also be celebrated at the event, such as the 35th anniversary of Child’s Play, the 40th anniversary of The Slumber Party Massacre, and the 60th anniversary of Blood Feast. Other horror films that will be playing at drive-ins include A Nightmare on Elm Street, Halloween, The Exorcist, Friday the 13th, and The Evil Dead. Independent horror shorts and Bloody Disgusting’s “Bloody Bites” will be playing at drive-in locations as well.

That’s not all! Some of the locations will include haunted decorations in addition to other fun activities like costume contests, monster photo shoots, a horror flea market, and “TRUNK or TREAT” for the kids. Besides that, screening of The Rocky Horror Picture Show screening will include a live Showcast performance, as has been the case with multiple showings in the past. The Drive-in Theater Is Still Going Strong

Another thing you can expect from the Drive-In HorrorFest will be the 3rd annual World Drive-In Movies Festival and Jamboree hosted by Joe Bob Briggs and Darcy the Mail Girl of The Last Drive-In. Taking place at the Wind Drive-In Theatre in Las Vegas from October 6–8, the guest of honor will be legendary horror director and producer Roger Corman. Meanwhile, Full Moon founder Charles Band will be filming his newest film there on Friday. Joe Bob, Darcy, and the special guests will also be available for autographs, meet-and-greets, and photo ops.

The Drive-In Movie Festival will include a Roger Corman Film Festival, the World Drive-In Movie Festival, and a Sleepaway Camp 40th Birthday Party. The latter will feature cast and crew members from the 1983 cult classic, including star Felissa Rose. Following on from that is a marathon of all four Sleepaway Camp movies, hosted by Joe Bob and Darcy.

Other horror movies due to make an appearance during the festivities include The Exorcist, The Exorcist III, the recent horror smash hit Talk to Me, Critters, The Twilight Zone, Night of the Living Dead, The Lost Boys, Carrie, A Nightmare on Elm Street, Ghostbusters, Army of Darkness, Zombieland, John Carpenter’s The Thing, and many, many more.
