With already over half of the year gone, there’s a variety of music that is still set to be released for the remainder of 2023 from many top artists. There seems to constantly be announcements of new releases of singles, albums, and various editions of previously released material and in the music industry, there’s never a dull moment as new content from performers in genres of all kinds, “from pop and hip-hop to alternative, K-pop, [and] country” is being put on deck for listeners and loyal fans to enjoy. Miley Cyrus and Selena Gomez tease new music
In the coming weeks, there will be major releases coming from a variety of music artists, including former Disney Channel stars turned award-winning musicians. Miley Cyrus has announced her new single, “Used to Be Young,” will be released on August 25, the latest from her Endless Summer Vacation album, which spawned the top single, Flowers. Cyrus shared on Instagram that she will release her new single with a new version of her Endless Summer Vacation (backyard sessions) TV special. She stated that, “This time with a retrospective interview sharing stories about the first 30 years of my life in honor of [“Used To Be Young”}. This song is dedicated to my loyal fans. I love YOU for loving every version of ME.”
In addition, Selena Gomez, another Disney alum turned pop star, has announced that her new song, “Single Soon”, will come out on August 25 as well. She shared on Instagram that, “Y’all have been asking for new music for a while…Since I’m not quite done with SG3, I wanted to put out a fun little song I wrote a while back that’s perfect for the end of summer.” September marks the launch of the latest album of fellow Disney alum turned musician Demi Lovato. With the recent releases of rock versions of Lovato’s previous songs such as “Heart Attack”, “Confident”, and and “Sorry Not Sorry”, the album, titled REVAMPED, is scheduled to come out on September 15 and will feature these singles along with other songs. Lovato shared, “Breathing new life into the songs that played such a huge role in my career has allowed me to feel so much closer to my music than ever before. I can’t wait for you to hear REVAMPED.”
Corrine Bailey Rae and Olivia Rodrigo share new album announcements
September 15 will mark the release of the latest album from Corinne Bailey Rae, the Grammy-winning singer/songwriter, titled Black Rainbows. Inspired by artworks at Chicago’s Stony Island Arts Bank, Rae shared that, “I knew when I walked through those doors that my life had changed forever…Engaging with these archives and encountering Theaster Gates and his practice has changed how I think about myself as an artist and what the possibilities of my work can be. This music has come through seeing. Seeing has been like hearing, for me. While I was looking, songs/sounds appeared.”
Before Black Rainbows and REVAMPED are released, a Disney alum from Generation Z makes her return with the release of her sophomore album. Olivia Rodrigo returns with Guts, slated to release on September 8. With the track list confirmed, and singles being released such as “bad idea, right?”, Rodrigo shared on social media when announcing Guts that, “I am so proud of this record and I can’t wait to share it with you all!” As shared by Teen Vogue, Rodrigo said of Guts that, “For me, this album is about growing pains and trying to figure out who I am at this point in my life…I feel like I grew 10 years between the ages of 18 and 20 — it was such an intense period of awkwardness and change. I think that’s all just a natural part of growth, and hopefully, the album reflects that.” Also releasing on September 8 is the debut studio album from V of the band, BTS, called Layo(v)er. According to Forbes, hints about the sound of the album have become apparent from Big Hit Music, the music label that V belongs to. The project seems to be, “largely based around an R&B sound, though there are also indications that the collection will interweave elements of pop, which V and BTS are perhaps best known for.”
Kylie Minouge re-emerges with new album ‘Tension’
Kylie Minogue has been in the music industry for years, and she will release her sixteenth studio album on September 22 titled Tension, her first new body of work since the album Disco in 2020. With her new album, Minogue is going into a direction that will allow her to, “celebrate each song’s individuality and to dive into that freedom.” One of the biggest announcements for all of 2023 is that Taylor Swift’s next re-recorded album will be released on October 27. 1989 (Taylor’s Version) was announced at the last Los Angeles show of her Eras concert tour and will feature new tracks that have been designated to have been from the vault.

On Instagram, Swift shared that, “The 1989 album changed my life in countless ways, and it fills me with such excitement to announce that my version of it will be out October 27th. To be perfectly honest, this is my most FAVORITE re-record I’ve ever done because the 5 From The Vault tracks are so insane. I can’t believe they were ever left behind.”
Country music stars Chris Stapleton and Dolly Parton release new albums
On November 10, Chris Stapleton is back with his fifth studio album, Higher. With the release of the single “White Horse”, described by Uproxx as “emotionally raw and brutally honest,” a press release related to the new album from the singer stated that the new album will, “span genres and defy easy categorization.” The legendary Dolly Parton is back with Rockstar, which will come out on November 17. After initially denying acceptance into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, citing she is more a country artist than a rock artist, Parton subsequently accepted the nomination into the prestigious Hall and intended to make an album of rock covers and collaborate with other artists to help justify her inclusion.
The album features a who’s who of collaborations with fellow Rock and Roll Hall of Famers, legends, and Grammy winners, including Sting, Ann Wilson, Stevie Nicks, Debbie Harry, Elton John, Linda Perry, Pat Benatar, and Paul McCartney with Ringo Starr, Peter Frampton, and Mick Fleetwood. She will also perform covers by herself, such as a cover of Prince’s “Purple Rain” and make it a family matter by performing “Wrecking Ball”, a cover of her goddaughter Miley Cyrus’ hit 2013 single.
2023 is definitely shaping to be an excellent year for new music.
