Nielsen Top 10: Suits Breaks More Records, Sweet Magnolias Takes No. 3

Once again, “Suits” is at the top of Nielsen’s weekly streaming rankings. The USA Network series, which concluded in 2019 but has received renewed interest since its debut on Netflix, was watched for 3.9 billion minutes during the week of July 17-23.

Measured across both Netflix and Peacock, that number earns “Suits” the No. 13 spot on the list of the biggest streaming weeks ever since Nielsen began measuring streaming viewership in 2020. The series also recently nabbed the 14th, 15th and 27th entries on that chart. It’s the most successful acquired title on Nielsen’s charts by far — the only shows that have clocked bigger measurement weeks are streaming originals: “Stranger Things,” “Wednesday,” “Tiger King,” “Ozark” and “Dahmer.”

At No. 2 during this viewing window was “Bluey,” which regularly makes the chart but achieved a higher ranking than normal when it first took second place the previous week. The animated preschool series was watched for 1.2 billion minutes from July 17-23.

Sweet Magnolias” entered the chart in third place with 1.2 billion minutes watched during this viewing window, which contained the first four days of availability of the Netflix drama’s third season. According to Nielsen, the series had the highest concentration of female viewers of any title this week, with 81%.

Summer (and strike-impacted viewing) continues to boost the performance of older series, with “NCIS” jumping to fourth place during this viewing window. The series brought in 741 million viewing minutes, followed by “Grey’s Anatomy” with 735 million.

With 702 million minutes watched, “The Lincoln Lawyer” fell from third to sixth place in the second full week of availability of its second season. At No. 7 was “Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan,” which was watched for 700 million minutes in the first week following the release of its series finale. In its first full week of availability, “Quarterback” took eighth place with 648 million minutes watched.

“Puss in Boots: The Last Wish” had its streaming debut on Netflix during the July 10-16 viewing window, when it landed at No. 3 on Nielsen’s streaming movies chart, and during this viewing window, it made the leap to the overall streaming chart in ninth place with 628 million minutes watched.

The last position on the overall chart went to “Cocomelon,” the animated preschool series that often makes the chart and this week was watched for 617 million minutes.
