Simone Biles Owens may have just saved so many brides-to-be a ton of money.
On April 22, Biles shared photos from her recent courthouse wedding to NFL player Jonathan Owens, and it turns out the bride’s look was pulled together just this week. Following the surprise wedding drop, the Olympic gymnast revealed on Instagram Stories that the stunning intimate ceremony was just round one!
“We will be having a wedding in a couple of weeks,” Biles told fans during a post-wedding Q+A. “We had to get married ‘legally’ here in the US—since our wedding will be a destination wedding.” And if you thought Biles’s stunning four-tiered white gown was a part of her wedding dress haul from March 2022, think again.
As it turns out, Biles purchased the Selfie Leslie dress this April, as well as her pair of wide-fit strappy sandals from Pretty Little Thing that she wore in her rooftop wedding pics. “Everything was ordered this week,” Biles wrote. “Dress. Wedding bands. Shoes. Bouquet.” Yes, even the athletes’ wedding bands were ordered from Amazon because they’re saving their real bands for their upcoming destination wedding.
But let’s go back to the dress. Described as the “Auguste Tiered Frill Midi Dress” on the Selfie Leslie website, the gown retails for $120 and runs from a size XS to XXL. Let me spell that out: one hundred and twenty dollars! I spent more on my prom dress [redacted] years ago.
In case the dress does sell out (which I predict it will), there’s a similar style on the website called the “Nightingale Tiered Mesh Maxi Dress,” which retails for $250.
As for her shoes, it appears Biles went for a pair of lace-up sandals that are currently on sale for $32 on the Pretty Little Thing website.
As for their “big wedding,” Biles tells fans she has four dresses picked out for the upcoming event. “Kind of dramatic but you only have a wedding once,” she wrote. Or twice! As for the budget: “We went so over budget that we decided there is no longer a budget.”
