Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin season 2 is officially set to bring back a character from the original series. Pretty Little Liars, which follows a group of teenagers who are being tormented by a killer known only as A, originally ran for seven seasons between 2010 and 2017. Although there have been several spinoffs and reboots of the show in the meantime, the series was most recently rebooted last year for HBO Max as Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin, taking on an even more slasher-style genre angle.
On the official Pretty Little Liars Instagram account, they shared a post celebrating the commencement of production on Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin season 2, which is officially titled Pretty Little Liars: Summer School.
The post also revealed that original Pretty Little Liars star Annabeth Gish will be returning as her character Dr. Anne Sullivan. This will mark the first time that an original cast member has appeared on the reboot series, though several characters have previously been mentioned by name.
Who is Pretty Little Liars’ Dr. Sullivan?
Dr. Sullivan was not present during season 1 of the original series. However, she joined the Pretty Little Liars cast in the first episode of season 2. She would then go on to appear in a total of 9 episodes between 2011 and 2015.
Although she only appeared in a few episodes, Dr. Sullivan looms large over the series. She is a therapist who is brought on to help the girls at the center of the series when their parents worry about their behavior. She proved her ability to help them open up and in fact became the first person on the series to learn A’s true identity.
Dr. Sullivan was last seen in season 6 of the original series, so the new season of Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin will be catching up with her after a gap of quite a few years. Her role in the new season is still being kept under wraps, and it is unknown if she will be a recurring character or a guest star. However, it seems likely that she will occupy the same role as the original series, giving the new group of teenagers an adult confidant.
