Coffee Wars and Other Vegan Films You Need to See in 2023

Coffee Wars and Other Vegan Films You Need to See in 2023

We’re calling it: 2023 is the year of the vegan. More and more, people are seeing the benefits of eating and drinking plant-based products. Better for the planet? Check. Better for the animals? Yup. Better for your health? Usually, yes.

Now, veganism is making a splash on the big screen… and in a big way. Check out these three vegan movies that are coming out in 2023.

Coffee Wars

Starring singer and “Glow” cast member Kate Nash, “Coffee Wars” is about a vegan barista and entrepreneur named Jo who enters an international latte-making competition with a delicious almond milk latte recipe. At the same time, she’s behind on her bills, and her coffee shop is at risk of closing. Will this green-haired veganista succeed with her plant-based cuppa joe? Will she show the world that almond milk is better—and far more sustainable—than its dairy counterparts? You’ll have to watch this funny and quirky nail-biter of a comedy to find out. Just make sure you root for her along the way.

Punk Rock Vegan Movie

Punk rock? Veganism? Moby?! We are here for all of it. Moby made the documentary “Punk Rock Vegan Movie” to show the link between punk rock and animal rights activism. It turns out there is a very strong connection. The movie stars musicians like Ian MacKaye (Fugazi and Minor Threat), Dave Navarro (Red Hot Chili Peppers), and Rob Zombie. Moby said he made the film because, “There’s nothing in my life more important than being an animal rights activist… My hope is that this movie maybe makes people question, Why am I continuing to support a food system that kills a trillion animals a year; destroys the rainforest; causes antibiotic resistance; causes climate change, heart disease, diabetes, cancer and obesity?” You can watch the full film on Moby’s YouTube channel.

I Could Never Go Vegan

The upcoming documentary “I Could Never Go Vegan” follows filmmaker Thomas Pickering, who was raised on a vegetarian diet and has never eaten meat. In his film, he explores the reasons why people say they could never give up meat and go vegan. For example, it is a common misconception that people need B12 and protein from animals, but Pickering works to dispel that myth. He also demonstrates the environmental and health detriments of consuming animal products. Watch the trailer for “I Could Never Go Vegan” and check back on the film’s website to find out when it’ll be released.

Are you excited to see these movies? We are! When you watch them, remember to grab your popcorn with oil or vegan butter and some plant-based candies to gear up for your viewing party.
