EXCLUSIVE: Trailer has dropped for Frank Doelger’s The Swarm, the big-budget pan-European drama that will premiere at the Berlinale Series.
Today’s in-depth trail showcases the environmental thriller in all its glory. It begins as strange happenings are taking place around the world: whales destroy boats, deep sea crabs attack beaches, mussels block container ships and an unknown ice worm destabilizes continental slopes and triggers tsunamis. A group of scientists who realize there is something bigger at play must then come together to undertake a life-threatening mission.
The show has been a huge undertaking and counts ZDF, France Télévisions, RAI Fiction, Viaplay Group, Hulu Japan, ORF and SRF as co-producers. Cast includes Alexander Karim, Cécile de France, Leonie Benesch and Joshua Odjick and Game of Thrones exed Doelger is EP basing the series on a novel by Franz Schätzing.
The Swarm will premiere later this month at the Berlinale Series, part of the EFM, alongside the likes of HBO Max’s Spy/Master, Silver Bear winner Zhang Dalei’s Why Try to Change Me Now and Stan’s Australian show Bad Behaviour. It was one of Deadline’s six international dramas to watch of 2023.
