Production is officially underway in the UK on The Inbetweeners 3, the highly anticipated continuation of the beloved British sitcom. Following Netflix’s official announcement that filming has commenced, we’ve now got our very first look at the cast back in action—and it involves a massive wedding.
Yesterday, we covered the casting news regarding a slew of new faces from both the UK and America joining the production, as well as the surprise return of Emily Head as Carli D’Amato. Now, we have the pictures to prove it, and they reveal a major plot point for the upcoming Netflix feature.
It looks like the ultimate exaggerator himself, Jay Cartwright, has actually managed to lock someone down.
What do the new set photos reveal?
Filmed on location at a picturesque English country church in Surrey, St Mary the Virgin, the massive set pieces and extras point to a wedding of epic proportions.
In our new batch of photos, James Buckley is officially back as Jay. In true Cartwright fashion, he is sporting an absolutely outrageous mullet-style haircut with shaved sides, dressed in a sharp tan three-piece suit.
Meanwhile, Simon Bird is back in his trademark glasses as Will McKenzie. Dressed perfectly for the occasion in a light blue waistcoat, grey striped trousers, and tails, Bird was spotted clutching a stack of papers. While a close-up shows his real name (“Simon”) printed on the back—likely his script sides—we can only pray that Will is the Best Man and preparing to deliver another catastrophically awkward speech.
Joe Thomas was also pictured on the church set, stepping back into the shoes of Simon Cooper. Looking characteristically nervous and flustered, Thomas is wearing a traditional grey morning suit with a cream waistcoat. (No sign of Blake Harrison’s Neil in this specific scene just yet, but we know he’s around!)
Confirming yesterday’s news, the photos also give us our first look at the return of Emily Head as Simon’s long-time crush, Carli D’Amato. She was spotted mingling outside the church wearing a stunning pink and gold chevron maxi dress with a pink shawl. Will Simon make another disastrous attempt to win her back?

Who is the Bride?
The photos finally unmask the mystery bride, played by newcomer Marina Bye. She was spotted arriving at the church in a traditional white strapless gown, complete with a veil and tiara.
If there was any doubt about whose wedding this is, one eagle-eyed shot captures a wedding guest holding the official order of service. The front of the booklet clearly reads “THE WEDDING PARTY” with an elegant script of the initials “J & A.”
Given the American actors (including Broadway star Hannah Cruz and Heathers alum Lisanne Falk) we reported on yesterday being cast as the wedding party/family, it seems Jay’s notorious lies about having a gorgeous American girlfriend might have actually become a reality.
Behind the camera, The Inbetweeners creators Damon Beesley and Iain Morris have returned to write and direct the third film for Netflix, ensuring the boys’ return will be as authentic (and painfully funny) as ever.
