Yellowstone’s Jefferson White to Star in ‘Marshals’ Season 2

Jimmy is back.

The Yellowstone character will be making his return to the Dutton universe, as Jefferson White is galloping over to the cast of Marshals for season two.

White will reprise his role as the fan-favorite Jimmy Hurdstrom in a recurring role. For those new to the Yellowstone-verse, Jimmy is described as “a good-hearted yet rough-around-the-edges ranch hand who evolved from a troubled criminal into a resilient, proud cowboy.”

Marshals stars Luke Grimes reprising his Yellowstone role as Kayce Dutton as he joins an elite unit of U.S. Marshals, combining his skills as a cowboy and Navy SEAL to bring range justice to Montana. The second season from showrunner Spencer Hudnut premieres Oct. 4 on CBS (at 8 p.m.; streaming on Paramount+) after a record-breaking cliffhanger season one finale.

“I’m thrilled to dive into the world of Marshals and continue exploring the American West,” said White of the news. “The cast and crew are stacked full of my favorite actors and filmmakers, and I’m honored to join them. Jimmy and I have been through a lot together, and I can’t wait to see what’s next for us.”

For those who are familiar, Jimmy was a major player in the flagship series. So much so, that he was set to star in his own spinoff, 6666, which was going to be set at the real Four Sixes ranch. The Texas-set spinoff was announced in 2021, and Yellowstone even teased the show when it gave underdog Jimmy, a sendoff to go work at the West Texas ranch when White left the flagship series in the season four finale. (He later made appearances in the final season.) But franchise boss Taylor Sheridan nixed the show after he purchased the property, explaining that he couldn’t fictionalize a story at a ranch he cares so deeply about. (Sheridan owns and operates two Texas ranches, Four Sixes and Bosque.)

“We can’t just watch some kid learn how to rope every single episode, right? So now I’m trivializing and fictionalizing something where real people work, and they raise their families there. And I could never do that to them. I can never do that to the cowboys who’ve dedicated themselves… and everybody that works on that ranch. I’m very protective of the 6666s,” he said on Rodeo Time podcast earlier this year.

White has starred on TV in The Alienist, House of Cards, Manhattan, The Americans, Elementary, Blue Bloods, and How to Get Away with Murder. In film, White most recently starred alongside Kirsten Dunst in Civil War, and Anne Hathaway in Eileen. White will next star as Harvey Lee Oswald in November 1963, in The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping and in Rambo, opposite Noah Centino.

He is repped by Lichter, Grossman, Nichols, Feldman, Rogal, Shikora & Clark, INC, Principal Entertainment LA and Gersh.

Marshals is produced by Paramount Television Studios and 101 Studios, and executive produced by Sheridan, David Glasser, John Linson, Art Linson, Hudnut, Ron Burkle, David Hutkin, Bob Yari, Michael Freidman, Grimes, and Keith Cox.
