New Zealand soul artist TEEKS to perform in South Africa this August

Acclaimed soul artist TEEKS is headed to South Africa this August for a three city tour in Cape Town, Durban and Johannesburg.

The New Zealand singer-songwriter will be performing at Old Biscuit Mill, Cape Town on August 27; The Station, Durban on August 28; and Parklive Jozi Festival at Marks Park, Emmarentia on August 30.

This will be TEEKS’ first time performing in South Africa. He announced the show in April.

“As promised. South Africa, I will see you in late August! I’m so excited to finally make the trip and perform for you,” he wrote online at the time.

From the moment he emerged with his critically acclaimed 2017 EP “The Grapefruit Skies”, Māori soul sensation TEEKS has captivated audiences around the world with a voice of rare emotional depth and timeless beauty.

Known offstage as Te Karehana Gardiner-Toi, the New Zealand artist quickly earned widespread acclaim through beloved songs like “If Only” and “Never Be Apart”, while his deeply moving live performances established him as one of the Southern Hemisphere’s most compelling voices.

Following multiple award nominations and wins, TEEKS cemented his status with his chart-topping 2021 debut album “Something To Feel”, an intimate and powerful body of work that resonated globally and produced the Double Platinum-certified South African favourite “First Time”.

In 2022, “First Time” went viral across South African TikTok, launching a dedicated local fanbase and leading to the song being certified Gold in the country.

For his Parklive Jozi show, TEEKS will be supported by South African artists Rowlene, Apple Gule, Will Linley, Apple Gule, Nasty C, Elaine and Mathew Mole.
