Like any organization or body that votes, each individual category is fluid and subject to change. Predictions are updated every Thursday.

2023 Oscars Predictions: Best Makeup and Hairstyling

Category commentary: There are 10 movies still in the running and any can miss. This category has traditionally never worked out in a “traditional” manner (i.e. “American Hustle” missing).

Going with “Blonde” to match Ana de Armas’ nomination for best actress and a surprise snub for “The Whale” because there are two “fat suits” in the running.

NOTE: All credited nominees are ultimately determined by the Academy.

You can read the final Variety Awards Circuit column before nominations here. Nominations will be announced on Tuesday, Jan. 24.
