2022 EMMYS PREDICTIONS:
OUTSTANDING SUPPORTING ACTRESS IN A LIMITED SERIES OR TV MOVIE
AWARDS PREDICTION COMMENTARY:
Alongside her daughter Margaret Qualley, the undervalued Andie MacDowell surprises the world again in Netflix’s “Maid.” As the show is rediscovered and gets a second wind, she may be the only one in the race that could top the front-runner Jennifer Coolidge for HBO’s “The White Lotus.”
All hail the queen of the resort! Coolidge became a phenomenon across social media and industry circles after her scene-stealing turn in the HBO limited series. She could be the surest thing, in any category, leading to nomination voting.
Always a bridesmaid, never a bride, Connie Britton is divine in HBO’s satirical take on the rich. While her many co-stars are in the mix as well – notably Coolidge, along with Alexandra Daddario and Sydney Sweeney – she’s the next likely candidate in line for a nom.
Receiving multiple nominations for “Veep” but never winning, Anna Chlumsky has become a radiant and dependable light in any project she takes on. With her co-star Julia Garner angling for attention; they could be a packaged deal, pushing her to the forefront for Netflix’s “Inventing Anna.”
Sensational and deeply moving, Kaitlyn Dever delivers her best acting performance yet in the Danny Strong limited series “Dopesick.” Standing tall next to star Michael Keaton, she is getting a considerable push that places her in the thick of the Emmy mix.
An Emmy-winner for “The Handmaid’s Tale,” the seasoned talent that is Ann Dowd, became the classic TV character Mrs. Garrett in ABC’s re-creation special – “Live in Front of a Studio Audience: ‘The Facts of Life’ and ‘Diff’rent Strokes.’” Will enough voters give it the time required to recognize another powerhouse turn from Dowd? Hopefully so.

Exhibiting amazing acting techniques in her film career, Dominique Fishback brings that heat opposite Samuel L. Jackson in Apple’s “The Last Days of Ptolemy Grey.” While bigger names are in the conversation, the Emmys can often fall for raw talent and take the time to recognize the achievement.
With her real-life hubby Tim McGraw, the country music star Faith Hill harnesses the distress and emotion of a powerful woman in Taylor Sheridan’s “1883.” Paramount+ continues to get the word out, and in her first television series role, she impresses throughout, making a case for a nomination.
With multiple Emmy noms and wins, along with another acting contender in the guest actress in a comedy series category for “Hacks,” Laurie Metcalf hones grace and wisdom in her work. Hulu is fully behind Metcalf with “The Dropout,” and rightfully so. She could be an easy pick-up.
There always seems to be a lone nominee from a series that usually doesn’t score much in other Emmy categories. While her co-star Elle Fanning fights to land a spot, Chloe Sevigny could have a clearer path to land a nomination for her work in “The Girl from Plainville” from Hulu.

The Emmy eligibility period runs from June 1, 2021, to May 31, 2022. The deadline for entering programs for Primetime programming and uploading all entry materials is on May 12, 2022, at 6:00 PM PT.
The nomination round of voting runs from June 16 to June 27. The official nominations for the 74th Emmy Awards will be announced Tuesday, July 12.

AWARDS CATEGORY HISTORY (Supporting Actress Limited Series)
The Primetime Emmy Awards, better known simply as the Emmys, is television’s most prestigious artistic award. There are many records held for both wins and nominations in the near eight decades.
For wins: The rules for this category has changed many times over the years, but as it stands, five women have won this category twice – Jane Alexander, Judy Davis, Colleen Dewhurst, Regina King and Mare Winningham. King is the only person to win her two awards consecutively.
For nominations: Kathy Bates has the most nominations in this category with seven, winning once for “American Horror Story.” Coincidentally, her series is also the most nominated program in this category with 12 nominations.

About the Primetime Emmy Awards (Emmys)
The Primetime Emmy Awards, better known as the Emmys, are given out by the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (ATAS). Since 1949, the awards have recognized excellence in American primetime television programming. They are divided into three classes – Primetime Emmy Awards, the Primetime Creative Arts Emmy Awards (honors artisan achievements), and the Primetime Engineering Emmy Awards (recognizes significant engineering and technological contributions). The typical eligibility period is between June 1 and May 31 of any given year. The Television Academy comprises over 25,000 members, representing 30 professional peer groups, including performers, directors, producers, art directors and various artisans and executives.
