“Yellowjackets” S2 Fifth Episode: Two Truths and a Lie

In the fifth episode of “Yellowjackets”, viewers must prepare for the frightening events they have been waiting for since the beginning of the season. No wonder they say that the truth will come out sooner or later. Are we finally going to find out what terrible thing happened in the woods? And what kind of darkness or unknown force is behind all this? In this episode, events take an unexpected turn. Although, it would seem, every episode is already eventful. But right now in the lives of our main characters there is that very turning point —that point of no return from which all the terrible events that took place in the woods began and influenced their lives 25 years later. So what happens to the main characters? And will we find out their main secret? We’ll see…

WHAT’S TAISSA HIDING?

In the fifth episode, Taissa overcomes all the obstacles and finally gets to her friend Van (Lauren Ambrose). Viewers see this episode through Van’s eyes. She runs a video rental store and it seems that her life is settled and everything is fine. But this first impression, unfortunately, is deceptive. Van is clearly stunned that Taissa has reappeared in her life. She’s trying to find out what she’s here for. Taissa is scared and can’t come to her senses after recent events. She tells Van everything. Van is alarmed that Taissa is walking in her sleep again and can’t find any way at all to stop it. Taissa asks her friend to put her up for the night (after all, she can’t sleep alone!). She finds strong painkillers in the bathroom and tries to figure out why she needs them. Is Van not doing so well?

Van says that these drugs belonged to her mother who had cancer and lived with her shortly before her death. But is it so? Van asks Taissa not to teach her how to live her life. She does not understand how Taissa, after so much time, can behave so calmly. So what happened between them, why did they stop communicating? Taissa falls asleep after the long trip, Van wakes up and takes some strong painkillers. There’s obviously something going on with her… Suddenly, Taissa comes up to Van and kisses her. Van looks at her and realizes that this is not the same Taissa, but a completely different person (the dark side of Taissa). She tells Van that they shouldn’t be here right now. But where should they be?

Teen Taissa seems to be coping well with her problems — she no longer walks in her sleep and can sleep peacefully all night. But what happened? Van persuades Taissa to go with her to the short meditations conducted by Lottie. Van assures Taissa that it was this practice that helped her. But Taissa still does not believe in all these lamentations and worship of the woods and all living things. She goes to this so-called Lottie cult for Van’s sake. Many of the team join this cult and believe that Lottie really helps them. It seems that Taissa is also imbued with this spirit of the woods and begins to believe in miracles a little. Or is it not so?

WELCOME TO THE GREEN PINE CAMP…

Natalie is trying to get used to Lottie’s camp. And it seems that everyone is friendly to her. But are Natalie’s intentions honest? Lottie is still trying to find an approach for her and wants her to release all her emotions. After all, this is what they do in her community, where everyone came with problems. But Natalie does not believe in the sincerity of Lottie’s intentions and still believes that she is responsible for Travis’ death. She does not give up the idea of trying to get into Lottie’s office and finding something terrible in it, which will definitely compromise Lottie in the eyes of her community.

Natalie gets into Lottie’s office (after all, she had the keys all this time!) and finds in it documents for each member of the community (detailed information for each of them!). She is sure that she has found something worthwhile and runs to Lottie shouting and making accusations (at this time, all members of the community hear this conversation!). Natalie tries to warn them against her. But it seems that no one is surprised by this. They tell Natalie that they voluntarily provided Lottie with this information and it’s not a secret.

Moreover, they came here themselves and no one is holding them here against their will. Lottie asks to leave them alone with Natalie. Lottie convinces Natalie that all her fears and suspicions are only in her head. She says she had nothing to do with Travis’ death (as Natalie thinks). And Lottie herself wants to know what his note, which he left before his death, means. Lottie offers to help Natalie with her worries and hold a session with her. Would Lottie really be able to get to the truth?

Teen Natalie is trying to somehow establish a relationship with Travis. But he accuses her of lying to him about his brother’s bloodstained clothes and deceiving him. That’s the only reason he stopped looking for him, although he should have believed that he was alive. Natalie does not deny that she lied to him. She tries to convince Travis that she did it only for his own good, because Javi should not have been able to survive such a cold winter (it’s just impossible!). And Javi continues to be silent and doesn’t say anything to anyone. So how did he survive?

AND WE’RE STAYIN’ ALIVE, STAYIN’ ALIVE!

Misty and Walter continue their road trip and do not give up hope of finding the camp of those who kidnapped Natalie. Walter is trying to get closer to Misty and find out something about her. He suggests playing a game of two truths and a lie with him. But Misty is determined to find her friend and does not intend to be distracted by strange games. Walter suggests starting with him and says three options, one of which should be a lie. Misty says it doesn’t help in any way to find Natalie and is just a distraction. And then Misty notices the camp gate on which she sees a bee icon (the same as on the honey cans!). They have finally found Natalie! Misty and Walter go to the gate, but it’s closed.

One of the community members calls Natalie and she sees Misty and Walter. She doesn’t understand what Misty is doing here and who this person is next to her. Misty says they’ve come to rescue Natalie. But it doesn’t look like Natalie needs help. Natalie asks Misty to leave and stay out of her business. Yes, technically she was abducted, but it was Lottie’s people who were looking after Natalie. And in fact, Lottie is helping Natalie a lot right now. Misty can’t believe her ears. Is this the crazy Lottie that she knew? Natalie asks them to leave. Walter tells Misty that he doesn’t think she needs their help.

But Misty is sure that Natalie is hiding something, and that Lottie kidnapped her out of jealousy for the friendship that exists between Misty and Natalie. Lottie is ready to do everything to have such a friend — to kidnap and even… Here Walter adds, maybe “for murder too”… Misty doesn’t know what he’s talking about. Walter says that their friendship with Natalie and the rest of the Yellowjackets is a little different from usual friendships. This friendship is surrounded by death, cult, abduction…and the murder of Adam Martin. Walter is trying to hint that Misty is capable of murder and maybe she killed Adam.

He says he didn’t believe Misty’s story that she was still in touch with Adam’s mother and that he just had a drug problem. Walter informs Misty that he tested Misty’s theory about this and, unfortunately, she screwed up (after all, Adam’s mother has been dead for a long time). Misty gets furious and says she won’t go with Walter and whatever happens between them, it’s over. It seems that Walter is very close to the truth. What does he need it for?

Teen Misty and her new bestie Crystal (Nuha Jes Izman) spend a lot of time with each other. They share their innermost dreams and secrets with each other. Mari asks to choose a card from the deck, so they can determine who takes out the poop bucket. It’s a very unpleasant task, and Crystal gets THIS card. Misty says she will help her with this difficult task. Crystal is thrilled and calls Misty her bestie (how cute!). On the way to the cliff, they continue to share information with each other and only the real truth (only no one should know about it!).

And then Misty confesses to Crystal that on the day of the crash of their plane, she found the plane’s emergency transmitter in the woods and destroyed it. Whoops! It seems that this is too cruel a truth! Misty realizes what she has done and tries to pretend that she lied. Crystal doesn’t believe her and says she’s not a very good actress. Then Misty threatens Crystal that if she tells this to anyone, she will KILL her. And then a terrible thing happens — Misty starts pushing Crystal, she slips and falls from a rocky cliff. Misty doesn’t believe what happened and tries to resuscitate Crystal, but it’s too late. What will Misty do?

IT’S A WIN-WIN BUT NOT FOR SHAUNA…

Shauna and Jeff seem to have finally settled their relationship and everything is calm. But it was not so! Their daughter Callie continues to communicate with a new guy she met at a bar. They go bowling and have a nice time. Callie is betting that she will strike the first time. If she does that, then he should kiss her. But he doesn’t want to rush things. Callie agrees with him. While her friend leaves for a minute, they are brought the bill and she sees his real name — Matt Saracusa (John Reynolds). She decides to search for him on the Internet and finds out that he is cop. It seems that someone told him too much… Callie tries to somehow save the situation and tells him that she found out with whom her mother is cheating on her father — with his best friend Randy. What a twist!

When she gets home, she informs Shauna and Jeff that her new boyfriend is a cop. And that she had just given him some “very important information”. Jeff doesn’t think it’s a good idea. Shauna says it’s a great plan. And she knows how to let the cops know it’s true. Shauna asks her daughter to text her friend that she is meeting Randy at the motel today. Shauna goes to this motel and meets Randy. She tells him that they should spend time here and leave “traces of the crime”, so that the cops will find them. And it seems that everything is perfect! But everything is not going according to plan… How will Shauna get out of this?

Teen Shauna quarrels with Taissa because she supports Lottie’s “cult” and all this nonsense. Shauna says that everyone is waiting for this baby, and she is terribly afraid and does not know what to do. She is upset that Taissa does not protect her from Lottie’s strange occult actions. It is obvious that Lottie is obsessed with Shauna’s baby and it scares her very much. She goes into the woods, Taissa follows her. They continue to argue and realize that they are lost. Shauna screams in pain… What will happen to Shauna?

SOME DARKNESS OUT THERE… WITH US!

The fifth episode is the turning point that all viewers have been waiting for for so long. If you thought it wouldn’t get any worse, then you were very wrong! The darkness has come and will not retreat anywhere. But what does this mean for our characters? In the woods, events reach boiling point. Something terrible is about to happen! Misty returns from the woods and tells everyone that she has lost Crystal. She was nearby, but suddenly disappeared from sight. Misty pretends she doesn’t know where she is.

COURTESY OF SHOWTIME

Everyone understands that Shauna and Taissa should have returned from the woods a long time ago, but they are still not there. Then they decide to search for them. But they understand that in such a snowstorm they will not be able to find them. Then Lottie and everyone else turn to the forces of nature for help. And Taissa hears their voices and eventually finds her way to the cabin. But how could this happen? Shauna is barely holding on. It seems the baby is on the way. Will Shauna survive this test?

COURTESY OF SHOWTIME

The adult characters are also struggling with their demons and trying to figure out what’s going on. Lottie conducts a therapy session with Natalie, who reveals the terrible truth to the audience. Natalie sees their plane, but no one survived in it. Natalie understands what Travis was talking about in his suicide note. He said that Natalie was right, that they pulled something very dark into the light and brought it with them into their lives. And that something or even someone will stop at nothing. Lottie is terrified… Does she really know what it is about?

After watching this series, so many questions will emerge that the audience will be in a state of shock and numbness for a long time. What will happen next? What kind of secret are they hiding? Let’s hope that the audience will be given answers to these questions in the next episode. In the meantime, buckle up and get ready for what awaits you!
