‘Who Invited Charlie?’ gets trailer and release date of Feb 3, 2023

There have been a variety of films that came out during the pandemic that addressed all sorts of issues from isolation, mental health, re-connecting with family, and boredom. The industry was full of independent films that ranged from documentary, to horror, and now comedy — with a new film called, Who Invited Charlie?

The film starring Adam Pally, Reid Scott, and Jordana Brewster has decided to tackle COVID in a new way — through laughs and heart. The film takes place during COVID but its not the focus of the story its more of the catalyst. The film, which debuted at the Hampton’s International Film Festival, ponders the question what would happen if you were quarantining with your family and an old friend unexpectedly shows up to isolate with you?

The Vertical Entertainment comedy is one of a kind because it shows a mix bag of emotions during isolation but also a bunch of shenanigans that their “friend” Charlie gets them into. You will laugh, you will cry, and you will walk out of the theater feeling different than when you walked in.

From writer Nicholas Schutt and director Xavier Manrique, the movie stars Scott as “Phil Schreiber, a self-involved hedge fund manager who escapes to the Hamptons with his wife (Brewster) and son at the beginning of the pandemic. Making an already fraught situation worse is the surprise arrival of Phil’s college roommate Charlie (Pally),” per the release.  “An exemplar of Falstaffian excess, Charlie is also the keeper of some of Phil’s darkest secrets. To make matters worse for Phil, his wife and son love Charlie. As Charlie makes himself at home — secrets are revealed that threaten to do more harm than the virus they’re all hiding out from,” per the release.
