Wednesday Is Coming Just In Time For Halloween Season

Wednesday’s aren’t for only pink anymore, it will be for black. Just in time for spooky season, Netflix has just revealed a first look at their new series “Wednesday” which is set to release in the fall. From the brilliant and twisted mind of Tim Burton, the series will be following Wednesday who is played by Jenna Ortega, as the twisted teenage daughter of Morticia and Gomez Addams. In the spinoff, Wednesday attends Nevermore Academy, where she attempts to master her new psychic abilities and solve a murder mystery connected to her family’s past. The other members of the Addams Family will be played by Catherine Zeta-Jones as Morticia, Luis Guzmán as Gomez and Isaac Ordonez as Wednesday’s brother Pugsley. Victor Dorobantu will be playing the disembodied hand servant, Thing, while George Burcea will be playing the servant Lurch. Gwendoline Christie will be playing a professor. Other contributing cast will be Jamie McShane, Percy Hynes White, Hunter Doohan, Emma Myers, Joy Sunday, Naomi J Ogawa, Moosa Mostafa, Georgie Farmer and Riki Lindhome. Christina Ricci, who played the iconic role of Wednesday in the ’90s film, will also be making a special guest appearance as Marilyn Thornhill.

The series will be nothing like you have imagined and is said to be “a sleuthing, supernaturally infused mystery charting Wednesday Addams years as a student at Nevermore Academy.” Burton has said this will be a completely new and horror filled perspective on all our favorite new and old characters. Alfred Gough and Miles Millar will serve as co-showrunners, writers and executive producers on the series. Tim Burton will be executive producing and directing the four of the eight episodes. Gandja Monteiro and James Marshall will be serving as additional directors. Steve Stark, Andrew Mittman, Kevin Miserocchi, Kayla Alpert, Jonathan Glickman and Gail Berman are also executive producers. “Wednesday” is produced by MGM Television for Netflix.

The trailer shows Wednesday completely not fitting in at Nancy Reagan High School. Wednesday is seen walking into the practice pool where the swim team  is and where she sees one of the popular jocks bullying her brother. With her thirst for vengeance that can only be seen with her sinister smile saying “The only person who gets to torture my brother is me” Wednesday deadpans to the team, before unleashing two plastic bags of piranhas into their practice pool. The piranhas of course castrate the popular jock. In turn expulsion and the principal stating that she has changed schools 8 times within the last 5 years. Then we see Morticia and Gomez Addams in the car with her stating that they are going to be taking her to Nevermore Academy where they fell in love and she can be different with her own kind. This where the real fun will begin.

Snap your fingers because it will be here sooner than we know and our spooky minds can’t wait to see all that they have in store for us. The series will have eight episodes that will air during the fourth quarter of 2022.
